My dogs (as in 2, more than one) have too many toys as it is. They always have rawhide bones AND there's two of them!!! I'm not stupid and put the medicine in his face. It's on a table. I've had animals, including puppies, my whole life and all we ever had to do was pop them with a newspaper. As for praising them and catching him in the act i do. When I come home, and they behaved i ask for hugs and pet them and give them treats.

I wrote a website segment that can be used to pick the right dog breed based on 9 criteria. Can you guys order the criteria in what is the most important when picking a dog. I already have it done but maybe some questions should be asked earlier. Also if you think something else should be added, it'll have to replace one that is already there, if you want you can put that too. Anyway here is the list, you guys arrange it from most important to least important

1) Breed Size (Small, Medium, Large)
2) Breed Grooming Requirement (Least difficult to most difficult)
3) Breed Exercise Requirement (Couch Potato to on speed)
4) Breed Affection Level (From Totally in love to roommates)
5) Good With Children (Yes, doesn't matter)
6) Urban Dog (Loves cities, ok in cities, doesn't matter)
7) Breed Temp requirements (Prefers cold, likes cold and heat equally, prefers heat, doesn't matter)
8) Good for 1st time dog owner (Yes, doesn't matter)
9) Good Watchdog

My 6 month old puppy is chewing on everything!! He chewed up my mom and fiance's Christmas presents! This dog even ate dayquil, nightquil, actafed, antibiotics, plastic, lead (pencil), ink, sharpes, you name it he's tryed to eat it.

I have tried yelling, using a newspaper to swat him, putting him outside, putting him in our tiny bathroom, putting him in his cage, shoving what he chews on down his thorat, nothing works!!! I'm desprit!! A BB gun is looking realy good right now. He knows the second I walk in the house he's in trouble, but he won't stop. The dog is driving me crazy but I won't get rid of him.

I have a 13 week old miniature beagle. During the day while I'm at work, I keep him in the bathroom with his crate and toys and go check on him at lunchtime. I was wondering when I should start just leaving him in his crate during the day (but still go home at lunch)? At nighttime he sleeps in his crate and wakes me up about 3am, 4am (to potty) and then we're up at 6. So he's doing better on his bladder control. He's trained to go potty on the puppy pads but we're starting to go outside to potty. It's hard since I live in an upstairs apartment and don't have a fenced yard yet. Any advice? The only time he has ever pottied in his crate has been when we are traveling on the road.

I have a mut.The mom is german shepard and the dad is half pit bull and half lab. This dog had no home when I got him they were just going to let him run in the street and get ran over. I had her since she was 6 weeks. She has all her shots I go to a pet mobile where they meet you in a parking lot and people line up to get shots. I never talked to anyone about my dog and before I knew it another dog jumped my gate and got her pregnant, I know I need to get her fixed and plan to do it afterwards. I'm learning and I would like help from those out there other than those telling me what I should have done was get her fixed. So far from you i have learned to get the puppies inside a warm place with the mom and give her vitamins. Is there anything else I should do? And yes the puppies already have people that want them and can take care of them.

Chihuahua? I've heard of "apple head"also. I have a chihuahua, and she is not stocky at all, her neck is long, her eyes are not "bulgy", she weighs about 4 pounds. I've been told that she is a "deer head". Is there any truth to all this "head" talk? Thanks!

Ps. My Minnie is the cutest chi in the world! :o)

I have been giving her calcium pills only about 150 mg, Is that ok? It seems to make her feel better. Also this food we are feeding is what we found agrees with her. She is now 5 years old. Any help would be very greatful. She isn't going to live much longer but I have to keep her around as long as possible. I love her!

~ we found a stray and he has been to the vet.... he had bloody poop and bad worms. The vet said that the blood was because of the worms.
~i have had two puppies die from distemper (even though they had all thier shots)
~ i started to notice this puppy twitches some when he is in a deep sleep....like after about 20 -30 mins into his sleep. The other puppies did it when they where just relaxed they didnt have to be asleep.
~ i cant tell if its nothing or if i should be concerned..i dont know anything about this puppy other than he was dumped out in the country.......he seems to be a good dog and in a matter of a week learned a ton of new stuff. I really had not planned on getting a new dog so soon but the vet asures me that keeping him is the rigth thing to do and that my house is fine and wont give him the virus and that if he had it he had it before he came to me. She also told me it would be unlikely to have 3 dogs die from it...

I know at six weeks and so on they need a shot. But I feel like I should be preparing to do something else. My dog stays outside in a gated home and has a dog house so I know they'll be in there. I was also told to start giving my dog milk.

Hi. I have a Chow Chow dog, who is 12 years old. I have noticed that when he is sleeping, his fore legs twitch for a while, then it stops. It only happens when he is sleeping, never in any other moment. His fore legs muscles never twitch when he is awake, or eating, or walking, never, ever. Just when he sleeps, and it only happens sometimes, not always. And when it happens, its just for some minutes, then it stops, it seems it happens only when he is in a state of deep slumber...or dreaming.

He can walk, run, normally, doesnt has a problem with that. He has some arthritis in his left fore leg because of his age, but has medication for that. In some occasion, I covered him with a blanket because it was cold, and the twitch stopped, but sometimes happens when its not too cold.

So this twitch seems strange, because it happens only for some minutes when he sleeps, only at sleep, and then it stops, and it doesnt happen everytime he sleeps, just occasionally.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance

He is almost 16 weeks, and I feed him dry small bite puppy food. Sometimes I don't even hear him chew his food, sometimes he just swallows it. This has only happened twice now, but sometimes he eats so fast and so much at once, it causes him to throw it back up.

My questions are, How do I teach him to slow down? What can I do to help the situation? Or will he eventually learn on his own?
