Honestly in my opinion no she will not overcome them. but all dogs are different. Some will some won't ... just depends on the nature of the dog. You will have to work w/ her to reassure her that it is okay when a gun goes off each time. Take her and hold her and protect her to show her that nothing will harm her when you are by her side. You will have to take baby steps while doing this though. :)
I hope she gets better. You may even want to talk to her vet about medication to calm her a little but I would try the other first.

Hello,
She should not b able to slip out of her collar.
And no, she most likely will not over come that. A dog that has never been shot before is more than likely going to be afraid.
Sorry about people being mean to u.

She may take a long time to become more comfortable with being outside. If you can I would invest in a good fence or the harness type of collar and leash. But I'm not sure if there is anyway to get over being shot. You may need to take her to a park instead of walking in the neighborhood.

A similar thing happened to my dog, only he was hit by a motorcycle and became deathly scared of loud motor noises. He's gotten over his fear after about 3 years, but not completely. I don't think there's anything you can do, except put her in a harness instead of a collar so she can't slip out.

well, you could make a noise like a gunshot happen very often in your household and at first she will be scared but if it goes off all the time she will get used to it. i wouldnt suggest doing that because she will be VERY scared at first.
another thing, why would you want to make her go outside when there is a gunshot? of course she is going to be scared becasue it happened to her and she was in a lot of pain when it did happen. don't force it on her.
i suggest, if you want the dog to be happy, move to another place or put her up for adpotion for the best of the dog. i know its not want you want. but it would be better for her.
good luck!

I would move your neighbourhood is not safe. Would you ever like guns after being shot. She has every right to be scared, don't force her to go outside. You could try an anti anxiety drug for dogs.Good Luck

There are ways of positive training to help overcome fear of sounds, I think it is done with playing soft music to them, to relax them, but I don't know exactly.

It's is highly unlikely that she will get over her fear if she hears shots all the time but, she might get over it if she wasn't hearing them all the time.
The people who are cussing at you, and making it all out to be your fault obviously have no clue what they're talking about, and would be wise to keep their mouths shut.

Elizabeth, you have so many problems with your dogs. And everything in the last ten minutes has been urgent. WTF?
And why are you still sitting on the computer when one of them needs medical attention?
