My dad had two and one died and I need to make him feel better by getting him a new pup. He wants a girl that at least the parents are registered. Someone please help me, I'm trying my hardest to find this present for him. He is my Mom's new husband and has been more of a father to me than anyone else in my entire life. Please help me find one in Kentucky. Thanks.

Not all Breeders are crooks honey go to puppyfind.com then type in the breed and then the state, hopefully you can get a good response.I think you are very sweet to want to replace his puppy.A Paper is just a Paper and their are no guaranties that you will get the best from a BIG SHOT BREEDER SHOW PERSON.Just ask if they own the parents,Are they thriving and having no problems.Ask about vaccinations and proof of vaccines ,maybe even the vials they came from also ask about worming, the pup should be wormed along with mom and sibling once every week. Your new puppy should be at least 8 weeks old and definitely weaned from mom.The warranty should not be complicated it should be simple to understand. Also do not sign anything that tells you what you can and can't do with the puppy.

To answer your question: Yes, there is someone in Kentucky that is selling an Irish Setter female puppy. The second answer is Maybe, to the under $400. part.

Most respectable breeders will not sell a dog as a gift. Those that will should not be bought from. Instead, find a reputable breeder and offer to buy your dad the dog after the holidays and with the next litter. An ethical breeder is going to want to meet your father and ask him lots of questions. Again, any breeder who does not should not be bought from.

I'm going to link to a few resources for you to help you find a good breeder or a rescue group that may have what you are looking for. Good luck to you.

Edit: Since I am a "jerk", I'll go ahead and solidify that view in your head. Your father wants to get a breeding dog for under $400???? This means he wants to be a backyard breeder - one of the major reasons so many dogs are in shelters. His remaining dog should be fixed and NO reputable breeder will sell a breeding quality dog as a gift, especially not to a Backyard breeder. And for the record, if offering you web pages to try and help you is being a jerk, then I think you have some serious issues with the truth. People usually call those with information jerks when it challenges their own morals and ethics and small view on the world. Read up or you and your father will be the reason for dozens of dogs being killed in shelters. You don't have to believe a "jerk" like me, instead believe those "jerks" at the Irish Setter club and at the AKC.

A dog is not something you purchase on behalf of someone else. There needs to be a connection between owner and pet. You should let your Dad pick out a dog he likes, and then offer to pay for it. You should not be the one picking the dog for him. He needs to find a dog that suits his temperment, lifestyle, etc.

Christmas pets are NOT a good idea either. Even though this is not a present for a child, at this time of year you're going to find poor quality "back yard breeder" (or worse) puppies available.

You get what you pay for - the cheap comes out expensive.

Let your Dad do the research. Give him a handmade gift certificate that says "Dad, find a dog you love and I'll make it yours." Then take your time and find the right investment.

It is not a good idea to buy from a BYB, and that is what you will get for under $400.

Yeah..puppyfind.com is FULL OF BYB and puppy millers!!! But since that is what you are wanting to do, go for it!! Your dad just wants a female to breed and make some bucks off. If you only requirement is an AKC registration, that would make a BYB!!!!!

No GOOD breeder of 16 years would direct someone to puppyfind for a good puppy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
