Hi everyone, I am a 30 year old career woman living in Phoenix AZ. I am wanting a small lap dog and thought it was a good idea to get some advice. Obviously, by buying a puppy that this pet would be a part of my family for many years. So I want a dog that will be good with kids when that does happen. Also, since I am single I would like to have a dog that is small for easy transport. (cars, planes, and ect) I would like to be ablel to carry the dog in my arms as an adult. (to give you an idea on size) Something cute that I can spoil to death. I do have a 4 year old cat so please keep that in mind. Any suggestions??

My dog can get our front window open. Nothing short of screwing it shut works. (Old house, we rent) We lock the window, leave, and she unlocks it and opens it so the 2 of them can lay half on the window ledge half on the couch all day.

My dogs are fearless and this is only a 4 ft. drop to the grass. Mailman, UPS guy, garbage man, kids riding bikes, people walking dogs, so much temptation! (My retired neighbor across the street keeps an eye on them and has a key in case something happens).

This is the same window that the cats go in and out of all the time. So why is is that the dogs don't escape? One's a Lab/Pointer mix who can't resist squirrels and the other is a JRT mix who can't resist anything. Thye're young and healthy dogs, why do they not escape to chase critters and other dogs? They surely could. All the neighbors know them and think it's a hoot how they hang out the window.

I spoke against Puppy Mill owners last week at our State Capital. 27 Felony counts were issused and are being served! Our next stop is about 4 possible Puppy Mill owners in Missouri. The cities are, Springfield, and Poplar Bluff and Collins. We have enough information from past buyers, and people who didn't buy from these people to prove these claims along with overbreeding, questionable AKC parents, and dogs who can't be registered with AKC due to "Litter Flooding" from AKC Dogs long dead! The Breed we are speaking about are all Dobermans! If anyone has bought, or been in contact with ANY breeder in these cities, PLEASE contact me. Your comments, reply, & everything will be kept in confidence.Help us STOP the Puppy Mill Owners in Missouri, and in these cities! One breeder has 6 different breeds of dogs besides Dobermans in her puppy mill, with pups available ALL year long! Contact me at will!

My yorkie just suffered from a bad case of hypoglycemia that lead to him having a seizure. He was in the hospital 5 days. The vet said that he is healthy, but since he is so tiny, he cannot store any food therefore leading to a drop in his sugar level when not fed on a consistant basis. He said that I should feed my dog every 4hrs, including throughout the night, for about 3 weeks. I am wondering if this is ok, or if I should more often. Anyone have a puppy that experenced this??

I posted a question (a few actually) about getting a dog from a rescue centre, and the advice i was given was priceless. I have been today, walked 3 dogs, who were lovely, but i followed advice from you lovely dog owners, and knew what to look for, and how i would know i had found the one! I have just come back from an RSPCA kennels, and i have found my pup!!! She is a Border Collie, 18 months old, tri colour, totally adorable!!! partially trained, (she has spent time in a family, worked full time, could not keep her)I walked her, she is so lovable, and has a beatuiful nature, i am getting home visit tomorrow, to do the paperwork, so i can collect my new pet. She sits on command, and loves her tummy to be tickled, housetrained, and car trained, i am so excited at getting her, and THANKYOU all, who helped me, and advised me, and knew i would know instantly, when i found my new pet!!

Recently our Golden has become aggressive while eating. It was my intention to be able to have a family dog and never worry about his behavior. While watching him eat, he was rapidly devouring his puppy chow and to slow him down I have been making him sit and stay before eating it all. When I pet him to make him stop and command sit, he low growls and then will curl his nose a bit. I do not want an aggressive dog and want to make sure he knows that eating is no excuse for this behavior. I have him learning new commands like sit, stay, lay, etc...and he will come and walk off a leash for me, but it seems this is a problem I can not quite conquer. I called a vet and they said they'd give me a packet of info which is nice, but has anyone had a similar experience? If so please let me know what you chose to do. I'm wondering if he's being fed enough food, almost 4 cups (8 mo old 75 lbs) of a high quality food.

She is on day number 61 or 62 today, and her whelping area has been set up for a few weeks. She has been sleeping in it, until now. 36 hours ago, her temp spiked to 102, and I had been graphing it at between 100 and 101, and then about 24 hours ago, it dropped to between 98 and 99 and stayed there for 6 hours before climbing to what has been the norm. Does this happen often?

Also, she has had a clear colorless discharge for about a week. I have read so many different things about how long this can go on, that I am unsure what to believe. Today, it was more cloudy and mucus like.

She has been staring at her butt and licking it for the past 24-36 hours more than the norm and has chosen now to not be in her whelping box, but rather under the christmas tree digging at the tree skirt. She comes out when I call her and then coax her back into her whelping box, but immediately goes under the tree when I am gone. I think that she is determined to give us an early present there!

We just got Dakota (a 7yr old collie) about 4 days ago from my brother, who got it from another guy, a few days earlier..... Anyway my brother had no idea what he was feeding him, he has bad teeth and he wouldn't eat dry food so I started him on pedigree canned food, now he is sick with diahreia. I am wondering if he will adjust to the new food, if so about how long does it take?

My Bichon is 7 months old and I was wondering when/if her hair was going to get curly like the other older Bichon's I've seen. I love her straight fluffy hair but know one day it will all be gone, and was curious as to when that happens. I figured it would have happened by now. Anyone have a bichon and remember when their baby got curly hair?
