I have a 12 week old Golden Pup that is adorable she is out of BISS CH. QUEST LAKESYDE CHRISTMASKIDD
WC, WCX, JH, CD, CGC, BISS, BOSS
She has breed standerd written all over her...the problem is when I stack her I pull the leash under her chin and try to bait her but she dosent like the leash and scrunches back.....it looks HORRIBLE the only way to get her to lean forward and push out her chest is to drop her lead, pick up her tail and bait her with my other hand...Can any of you help me? ?
Thanks in advance

She's only 12 weeks old! Are you expecting her to perform like a champion already? If you push this puppy too much too young, you're going to make her dislike showing and the one thing you can't force a dog to do in the ring, is be happy.
Ease up a little on the lead under her chin. Most dogs will protest that and as she ages and gets accustomed to showing, she'll be more accepting. What you can do to get her to lean forward is hold the bait in front of her with your right hand, and GENTLY pull back on her tail with your left. That will make her throw her weight forward for balance. This takes practice too - you have to learn how much pressure and it's only for now while you're working with her.

The pup is 12 weeks old, get a grip. at this point, all you should be teaching is to stand and look happy when there is a treat or toy in your hand. Stack her on the table with your hand under her tail and under her chin and just teach her to not wiggle. 5-10 minutes a day.
Was the pup sold to you as a show potential pup?
I would also consider joining a Golden club and seeing if they can turn you on to a handling class. Sound like YOU need the help, not the pup.

RELAX!!!!!
When I start to show puppies I only care about the following:
1) They have fun
2) They walk reasonably well on a lead, or at least don't do the "fish on a line" thing
3) They have fun and learn that showing is enjoyable.
4) They stand reasonably still for at least a short time (but it's fine if they wiggle when the judge examines them)
5) They have fun
6) They get used to the atmosphere
7) They have fun
If your girl is good, you have lots of time to do well with her in the ring. But the best dog will not do well if it is obviously unhappy to be there. And once you turn them off, it's really hard to get them interested again. Concentrate first on convincing her that the ring is a great place to be, then worry about how well she shows.

She is a baby, so don't expect too much at this age.
Don't worry about the leash at this point. Too continue to do it when she doesn't like it might turn her off from stacking, you can work on that at a later time.
Start by treating for standing still, then for standing square, then for tail set, ears up, etc. It takes a long time and alot of work to get a dog to show like a special. Take your time, nobody is going to expect your pup to show like an adult.
Most of all, keep it FUN! If your dog doesn't like to work he is not going to have that desired attitude and spark in the ring. Remember, just a baby!!!

It takes a lot of patience and repetition. My Saint is eleven Months old and I am beginning to believe he will never stand. He loves to lean on me. I have been told maturity will help with patience. I hope so! The best person here to ask I believe is GitEmGang. I hope he takes your question as sincere. He shows dogs and has been very successful. MJ will help you as well. As I am sure you can tell I dont know what I am talking about here I am learning myself

i have many dogs myself...pitbull...we dont show ours so i dont know exactly how training goes but logic would tell me that you might want to get the puppy use to the leash before trying to get the dog to perform certain tasks with the leash on...from experience puppies hate the leash and will fight it until it becomes natural to them over time
