Dogs - November 2006

Is a minature pinscher and a boston terrier a good mix for new puppies? i have both of them dogs but not sure if those type of puppies would be able to sell or would it be considered a mutt?

I have a dog, that had 2 strokes, and it partially crippled her in her back legs, to where when she squats to pee or poo, her back end will sometimes fall down. She's a real fighter and has been fighting so hard to not let this stop her, and she is in no pain. But i'd like to be able to help her get around on walks again, and I know there are free services out there that help pets in need get things such as a wheelchair. Please only answer with serious answers as my dog is my world, and I so need to do something to help her. Does anyone know the link to any of these services that help dogs like mine??

We are watching my Mother in-laws dog who is staying with us for 10 days and we are fed up with the urinating, couch chewing, shoe distorting and ripping up pillows. Wally is a little Cairin about 30 lbs, our dog is a Rhodesian ridgeback 83 lbs. Wally, the little dog is commonly urinating next to the dog dish and in our bedroom. We have also caught Wally trying to mount our dog when she is lying down. My assumption is wall is trying to be the Alfa dog but I feel our dog does not take Wally seriously. I have never, NEVER caught Wally in the so called marking act so this is tough!

Key notes:
They both eat at the same time.
Since Wally is so small, when I open the door they can exit at the same time, and they do.
Wally is around three or four years of age and our dog is seven.

I am I right in assuming that Wally is trying to be the Alfa dog and is marking? Since I can not catch him what can I do? Is there a way to stop this as well as all the destructive behavior?

My dog just recently got diagnosed with heartworms, they're not severe, but he has them. The treatment they propose keeps him away for 7 days and costs $600. Any solutions that require less away time or less expence????

My 6-year old West hightland White Terrior dog hurt my older dog several times. Then, Vet suggested to cut all her front teeth short. The Vet said it won't be a problem to my dog, so he did it. However, I can see her tooth nerve exposured. I do not know if we did the right decision or will make her teeth problem in the future. Anyone could tell me?

My dog just woke me up sounding like her nose was stuffed up ...she threw up twice it was real thick like mucus and looks to be blood, bright red. also where she breathed out of her nose there is a spray of blood. please help im scared it is so late at night i dont know what to do.

It does not bother him when touched, he acts normal. Beagle 11 months old. The pimple has no white ooze or anything. Size is about quarter inch. I will monitor for a day to see if it get bigger and will take to the vet.

Ive given my dog an urinary pain relief medication I have and her urine is bright yellow (kinda like a highlighter) and she did it on my white carpet!! Ive tried bleach, rubbing alcohol, H202....HELP!!

My neighbor down the street wants to artificially inseminate his Great Pyrenees B i t c h from my other neighbor's Pug!! They think they'll get rich making some new "designer dog". It just sounds awful to me, is there any legal way I can stop them?

I recently got a pound mutt, and it's not completely potty trained... I live in a mountainy area, so I don't want to let him free outside and get all sorts of ticks and fleas. It won't go pee when I take him outside.. He's only 17 lb, so he doesn't eat that much. He's already pooed twice in the house and peed once. I don't know what to do. The only time he pooed was when I took him to a grassy field at the local school and church. What do I do?? Why won't he eliminate outside my house? Should I get the scented house training pads?

I have a 2 yr old female pet dog, what will happen if she will remain a virgin? is there any complication or side effect with her health just like a human being old maid if she do not have sex life?

My dog was diagnosed with dry eye. We have an ointment called optimmune that we put in her eyes, along with artificial tears.It seemed to be working. All of a sudden her eyes have become real red and she walks around with her eyes closed. Our vet gave us an antibiotic and we have been using it for 3 days now, but her eyes are no better. I am wondering if she could be having a reaction to the optimmune ointment. Has anyone ever had a dog with dry eye? Any suggestions please!

Ok i am probably going to adopt a dog soon and i just wanted to know how long it took some of u guys to potty train ur dogs. was it easy, how long did it take, and how did u do it? I want to get a dog but im not sure what to get. I want a medium sized dog because my last dog would walk me.
