We can't really diagnose your dog over the Internet. This is not a veterinary website.

The answer to your "what coud it be" question is anything from food allergy to mange to cancer, but it would only be a guess.

Call your vet. Set up an appointment. Get a real diagnosis. Good luck to you and I hope that your pup is ok.

Edit: If it hasn't cleared up, then he needs to see the vet again. Be very careful about the shampoos you are using and the food you are feeding him. Foods filled with fillers and corn trigger allergies like this rather easily.

First I would call your vet and find out what the allergic symptoms are for the Advantage. Also if he thinks this is what it is. I have an chocolate lab and she is allergic to grass/ or something in it. The only difference is that hers will look pusey- not bloody. The only thing I have found to treat it is the Revolution topical flea, tick, mosquito, earmite and heart worm tube. When it gets really bad I give her benadryl ,1- once a day for a week. She weighs 68lbs. But I would not suggest this till The Advantage has worn off, on what your vet says and if benadryl is right for your puppy. Fleas will not cause this size of sore. But he maybe scratching Due to his skin being irritated. GOD BLESS YOU! sus04mc@yahoo.com

If he's been treated for fleas, then you have two other common things to consider. One is ringworm. The other is mange. Both ringworm and mange itch like crazy and the puppy will scratch and bite itself to scratch the itch.

Unfortunately, this isn't something you should try to figure out yourself. If it is ringworm, you could use an over the counter preparation like Lamisil. However, if it is mange, the Lamisil won't help and the delay in treating mange could make it more difficult to treat.

The best thing to do is to have a vet look at it and make the diagnosis. Your puppy will feel better faster. If you don't believe me, look it up with a web search, but it is possible for humans to get a certain type of mange from their animals, as well as ringworm. Yup, there are different types of mange and they require different treatment too.

Patches of quarters sounds like ringworm. If they are bleeding then you should rush him to the vet asap. Regardless of what everyone has suggested, all of the things need attention.

If it is an allergic reaction then you must rush him as quickly as possible to the vet, give them a call to tell them you are on your way. A reaction like that can quickly become life threatening.

Good luck.

Don't try a home remedy. Could be an allergic reaction to the flea medication. Take him to the vet.

Hot spots. Take the dog into the vet for treatment.

Bloody under the skin? Itchy? Could be ringworm. Ringworm is like a rash though, not an open bloody wound.

Check with vet yet?

It could be time to take your pup to the vet.

You should monitor these things closely as they can be symptoms of systemic disorders. My friend's dog had skin problems and ended up with a diagnosis of Addison's disease which is very serious.

It could be a skin infection. Mild skin infections are common in young male dogs. Bring him to the vet, have him checked, and they'll give him an antibiotic and cortisone to clear it up.

well, it's winter now and the heat's on in the house, makes my bulldog very itchy and everytime we leave him, we come home to a new spot that he itched the whole time that we left. the vet said i can give him benedryl, but ask how much for your dog, mine is 70 pounds and we can give him 2 pills. he's also on allergy shots for trees, grasses, and weeds....nice, huh?
