My dog Cheyenne lived to a good old age of 18 1/2. She was the best and smartest dog around. I do miss her so much, its been 3 years and I still cry when I think about her. She was a soft-coated wheaton terrier, cocker spaniel, and sheltie mix. She look like Benji but lighter coloring. She was always between 18 and 20 pounds. She was allergic to beef so we fed her either homemade chicken and rice or dog food that was beef and beef by-product free. She has yearly shots and check ups. But I think the thing that kept her around so long was all the love we had for her!

My oldest dog, is still living. We've had her for almost 11 yrs now, she is atleast 12-13yrs old, and still going strong.
It's definitely not what we're feeding her, as her food varies often. She's never been to the vet for medical reasons, as she never gave us reason to be concerned.
She is a mixed breed, possible Ainu as one of the breeds. She came to us as an abused stray (probably ran away from home).
She just has a puppy's youthfulness, and refuses to act her age.

It was my dog Gambler and she lived to be almost 14. She was a labrador mix and I don't think the food we gave her necessarily prolonged her lifespan though we did use the senior diet. When she was 7 we got a puppy and I think having a younger dog around kept her happy and living longer.

When I was growing up I had a mixed cocker spaniel fox terrier she lived to be seventeen years old. She was spoiled and pampered I think that contributed to her long life. Her diet had nothing to do with it. As a puppy she ate Purina Puppy Chow and as an adult she ate Gaines Burgers (I don't even think they make them any more) we also gave her a lot of table scraps.

17 years she was half Symon and half Collie, her name was Nova, she was such a wonderful pet and friend, we had to put her down due to hip and sight problems, she got to the point that she could hardly walk, we loved her enough to let her go
