some dogs do not respond to regular training tools. I for one hate clicker training but i've met dogs that only respond to the clicker. Other dogs only respond to food. And even some only respond to petting from their handlers. Try all the different methods before you give up. Your dog will respond to at least one of the methods. Try this order, Food, toys, handler, dog whistle, play, clicker.

You have to have rules, limitations and boundaries for him. You have to be the pack leader, not him. Cesar Millan has a book and several DVDs out, all of which can be gotten on eBay. he is awesome and I have learned a lot from his shows "The Dog Whisperer" on National Geographic TV. Catch his show and learn how to be the pack leader.
Good luck. I have a Boxer that is stubborn too, so I feel for you.

Hey Jessica, are you the person that's in charge of the dog? I can't tell from your post. It would be more helpful to know why the trainer was hired, what happened during the training session that worked, and what did not work. Also - what is it specifically that makes you say that he's stubborn?

YOU and the dog need traing classes, sounds like your dog's biggest problems are of the human kind day care once a week will also help. Get a book, video tape on training, Watch the Dog Whisperer, and get off your butt and work with YOUR dog!

You can try obedience school but you probably would be better off asking your vet for a referral to a dog behavioral specialist. He can evaluate the dogs specific behavioral problems and correct them as well as show you how to properly work with your dog.

you are obviously unworthy of the dog. a dog reacts directly to the input from its companion. you probably dont spend enough time with the dog and when you do, you try to get it to do things which are not natural or productive to its breed.find a good loving home for the dog. you are a huge suck.
