Pick up some eyedrops from a chemist. its the same as what a vet would give you but there may be and infection or a nastier disorder that is causing it.My doberman has the same problem. There is an ointment that a vet can give you that helps the tear ducts function properly but please get your dog checked, especially if its a pure bred. the green stuff is because the tear ducts aren't flushing out the eyes and this feels nasty and gritty (very uncomfortable). It can become a permanent problem if not treated. My dog has it permanently and i have to flush out her eyes twice a day, not nice.

What kind of dog? Dogs with fleshy faces, Danes, Mastiffs, boxers, bulldogs, sometimes have issues with entrophia, where the lids roll inward and the lashes agitate the eye. This is usually associated with eye discharge. Look and see if her lids are the culprate. If so she may need to see a vet and have surgery done to hold the lids in their proper place.

Chances are your dog has an eye infection. It would be best to ask a vet to take a look. Some dogs have eye drainage, but is usually clear and not real noticeable.

Green stuff should be checked by a vet. It may be an infection, it may be that the dog has KCS, which is a disorder that results in low/no tears being produced.

It sounds just like eye crust from sleeping. It's normal, and most dogs get it when they might be feeling a little under the weather. You get it too!

If it gets to be super gummy in the day time when shes awake, and it starts getting really bad then see a vet.

For now, relax.

Okay, you require to go to the vet to get drops. I suggest the sooner the better. Its Conjunctivitis. Its not nice and it can get very smelly. Help the poor thing and have it seen too, before it turns into something else
