Thank you guys for your info. A couple of things i need to clear up, My wife and i lived at my mother-in-laws for a while. We have a female named Alizay she is Gotti's mom. Sicko is Gotti's dad{i think sicko raped her, she doesnt like any other dogs than Donut and Gotti},we had her fixed. They grew up together with our other pitt Donut"whom died a couple of months ago due to cancer". When donut died we decided to get Gottti from my m.i.l. house were we used to live. At that house is another pitt named Daisy. When my wife and i moved out we took our dogs Alizay and Donut. MY wifes bro took gotti, he is a good dog, he moved and left gotti with sicko and daisy at the house. Sicko is crazy, but good. Sicko would attack gotti over every little thing especially daisy(nasty gashes, & bites), . When Donut died R.I.P. ,we felt Alizay needed companionship so went to find our Gotti and give him the home he deserved .{for my wife it was Donuts lineage}. Now the rest of the story i've told u, Thx

Why do so many dog owners think the world is there for them and their pooches to use as a public property? I know a lot of owners pick up the droppings after their animal has defficated on a footpath or whatever, but most don't. What has really got to me lately is that my wife, who is a PE teacher at a local school, has to put up with dog owners taking their dogs for a walk across the school playing fields whilst she is trying to teach a lesson! When she has asked the dog owners to get off the field she has recieved answers such as the classic "It's ok, he won't bite", which is one of the most stupid, to "Well where else can I take him for a walk" and of course obsenities. If you buy a dog, and you don't own enough land to exercise it, don't assume all open spaces, private or public are there for you to tke your dog onto. Do owners get a perverted thrill out of knowing their dog has used a school playing field as its toilet? Even if you do collect its muck, the germs are still there.

We have a 30 pound german shepherd mix we got from the shelter. She chews everything UP! When we give her a chew...I got the hard ones so they would last longer...it was gone in an hour. It also gave her the runs. She LOVES to chew but I don't want her sick. Any suggestions??

I have a 10 month old French Bulldog and his face stinks. Is this normal? And he keeps getting this re-occuring skin irritation that looks like mange but I took him to the vet who says it is NOT mange but a FORM of mange that is not contagious. He said it can come from a weak or underdeveloped immune system or my Frenchie can be simply stressed. This dog is so SPOILED I can't imagine him being stressed. Anyone with the same problems?

I need to reseach types of dogs. Me and my boyfriend are moving out for the first time, and we wnat to buy a puppy. We are not home for like 5-6 hrs a day, so I need a dog who is not too dependent- one that will be okay to leave alone for a few hrs a day!

Does anyone know any good sites that go into detail about all types of dogs??

Im getting a cavalier king charles spaniel puppy, i will be at home for six weeks to look after him/her, however after that i will be out at work from about eight till four every week day. I am intending to have a dog walker so the dog wont be alone all day, and will spend lots of time with it during the evenings and weekends but would it be a good idea to get an older rescue cat that gets along with dogs to keep it company during the day? Would that stop the dog from getting too lonely/bored?

My 2 year old Lab has epilepsy he is and will be on medication for the rest of his life. Despite being on 1000mg of bromide and mysolyn he is still having fits once a week. I took him to the vets today after making an appointment to have him put to sleep. I left the vets in tears with Harvey, I could not do it. Is there anyone who could give him the home he deserves? Maybe someone who could nurse him through the fits.

Teddy Bear Yorkies? I am sorry, I have never had a dog. I don't know breeds and I don't know anything about this particular one that is why I am asking. Obviously people out there aren't too helpful and give me a thumbs down instead of helping. I just want to know the difference. I want a cute tiny puppy that I can go for walks with.....Just please help!

We have a 3 year old golden retriever that we are having problems walking on a lead. We have tried a Halti that did work but she didnt really like it. If we offer our dog a treat we have her attention for a while but she loses interest if we dont give it to her quite quickly. The main problem is that she can be walking quite nicely but then if she smells something interesting she will stop which is beginning to hurt my arm. How can I keep my dog interested enough so she doesnt pull or stop while on the lead?

P.S We have taken her to classes when she was younger and didnt have a problem when in the class and is very good with other commands such as sit, leave, stay and recall.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20061108/ap_on_re_as/china_one_dog_policy as a way to 'control the spread of Rabies'! How moronic - one dog can get it as easily as 50 if not vaccinated. What do you think of this new policy?

I'm thinking of getting a maltese and I went to dogbreedinfo.com to check their health problems. I saw that they suffered from quite a lot of problems (skin, respiratory & eye etc.). Is there a very high chance that a maltese will get them or are is it only a minority of maltese which will suffer from these problems?

We have a sweet old scruffy mutt that stinks so bad it makes your eyes water. It's that familiar wet-dog odor but on the pungent side. Been to vet & she's perfectly healthy w/no skin problems, no infections, etc. Eats high quality food. She's woolly, thick-furred and the reek comes from all parts. Don't expect miracle cure from our vet because where we live vets are more for donkeys, cows, goats, than housepets.

So, how often can we bathe her? (hard to bathe cuz this dog fur is water repellent but yeah yeah she needs baths). Any other magic tricks, like putting baking soda in her food or vinegar in her water? (I'm just guessing here, haven't tried anything yet, I need your advice) Any magic odor-treatment pills I can have shipped from a US/UK vet?
