Vegetable oil will kill ticks, it slowly suffocates them so they stop feeding and drop off. Just paint the body of the tick with veg oil on a cotton bud and it will be on your carpet within 24 hours.
Any shampoo will kill fleas and head lice. All insects breathe through pores in their skin. They have a waxy coating to keep them waterproof or they'd drown. All you do is use a mild shampoo or baby bath, lather up, leave for 4 minutes and rinse well.
Baby bath doesn't contain any insecticide, but there are dog shampoos that contain pyrethrum; a herbal insecticide.

But Frontline works better as it kills any ticks that try to feed. Its also safe for dogs, despite the fact that its not herbal.

Tea tree oil is not safe for cats; check with any vet. Cats groom themselves and will ingest it.

I'll go for the people that said white vinager! It's used on humans! In third world countrys they put vinager on their hair and cover up with a piece of cloth and leave it on for a few hours, the smell is annoying, but it kills the fleas cuz it's very strong and then just shampoo it away!

It really works! I haded when I was little kid and would get fleas at school and had to be treated with that!

Dunno what ticks is!

no. There are plenty of quackery type things people will tell you like garlic in the food, vinegar wipes, lavender oil combed through etc etc etc but I can tell you that they don't work. In 30 years of keeping animals I have tried most things early on when I was gullible and am ashamed to say that my animals had fleas until I wised up and went to the vet for an appropriate safe effective product.
I have had people tell me forcefully that their animals do NOT have fleas because they use garlic/lavender oil/vinegar/etc etc, while the animal has huge bald patches from the flea allergies, are scratching themselves crazy and the person talking to me has loads of bright red flea bites up their legs.
Take it from someone with some experience and who has 12 cats and 87 dogs in the house, so called natural remedies simply do not work.
Your vet will probably do a free flea consultation if you book your pet in, then buy whatever he recommends. Personally, my favourite is 'stronghold' at the moment as one simply lot of drops on the back of the neck gets rid of fleas, ticks, lice, mange, earmites and roundworms. All for around a fiver a month. Once you get a flea infestation, it will be very very hard and very expensive to get rid of them on your pet and from your house, since you will also have to give tapeworm pill (intermediary host of tapeworm larvae) and try to clear the infestation in your home because flea eggs and larvae are living in the furniture, bedding, curtains, carpets, cracks in woodwork etc.
You don't muck about with fleas.

woah I think putting veggie oil and washing up liquid on a cat is a bad idea. washing up liquid is an irritant for a start and what cat do you kno that doesnt lick its self. 1 of the thinsg you can get from the vets is just as good. Dont be fooled into thinking natural products are safer

Not for killing, but as deterant, garlic oil has really helped my dog from picking up the fleas in the first place. Three of my other dog owning friends have tried garlic oil and it has worked a treat- you have to be careful how much you administer. Speak to your pet shop because I have noted a few natural remedies around.

Yes! I use vegetable oil for killing the fleas off my cats. Just cover your cat or dog in veggie oil (or any oil of your choice)..It smothers the fleas, the fleas can't breathe and it kills the fleas and ticks. Leave the oil on for a few hours(3-6 hours). Then use Dawn dish washing liquid to wash the oil off, because Dawn cuts grease really well! Then after you wash them with the Dawn and have all the grease out, use a little bit of conditioner to soften their hair. (Just like washing your own hair).

Also, I give my cats garlic pills( one pill a day), and that kills fleas and any other parasite that the cats might have.

Good Luck.

No not really. You need to get the powder. In South Africa if we get a problem with ticks and fleas in your home you can put Khaki Bush down on the floors that kills them.

Ticks are common, merely %. then out, easiest with thumb and forefinger, and with longish nails too. you merely grab the top with ur nails and get them in as deep in the back of the top as u can with hurting the canine, and merely pull it rather puzzling, its plenty greater user-friendly if u positioned your different hands on the two section so u are not pulling the canines pores and skin alongside with the tick.
