A puppy I got yesterday? It's a 6 week old male Yorkie....FULL BLOODED. He is the son of my in-laws Yorkie, whose his name is Teddy. I don't know what his mom's name is, but he is adorable and is black with brown highlights. Help please!!

Thank you Wendy for bringing out the best of the idiots!! To be frank with all you smartasses out there, I was saying it was full blooded because I am proud to have a dog that isn't a Heinz 57 for once in my life. Take it as you want, but I asked for help thinking of a name, not for your snide remarks!! This dog actually belongs to my 6 year old son and I thought I would get some input from other folks on a name so that I could help him think up a good one. Didn't know only the derelicts would reply!!

Thank you, Hotdog, for clearing that up for me!! I will note that he is purebred from now on just so I won't get rocks thrown at me!! LOL!!!!

I have a full blooded Boxer now but years back I had a Yorkie! His name was Dee-O-Gee... get it? D-O-G!

My 6 year old (child) was just learning to spell and when she spelled it out loud it sounded like a cool name!

If you're more interested in give the dog a 'human name' try baby name sites.
Or for something a little more 'out-of-the-ordinary' take a look at different languages. If your lineage is say... Italian, open up an Italian dictionary. Look at descriptive words that might suit your new pal like:
Brown = Marrone

I haven't read any other answers - but it would be best to say that your Yorkie is 'purebred' rather than full blooded.
Pick a name that suits his personality. It took me three days to name my dog - I always think that they need a name to live up to. Not something like 'Snookie' or any other cutsie names.

how about a favorite charactor from a book/movie/play etc...

we were supposed to get a border collie that was white with half a black face, he was going to be Phantom.
we got a aussy shep we named Gobo (from the 80's tv show fraggle rock & its a term from the lighting industry that my bf work's in)
his boss's dog's names are Leko (another lighting term, but a cool name) & raison.
i also had a cher, smokey & midnite. (all black dogs tho)

we had a friend from afganistan who's name was last name was shaw and we always had a running joke that her baby's name should be Pah. (pah-shaw) maybe you can do something like that if it fits your name.

my dad's dog's name is Mickey (for mickey mantel) even tho its a girl dog, but he's also had lots of lucky, bingo, shamrock, smokey

my mom had a terra once. and a few smokeys... i think thats the family favorite lol.

my ex's was stanley, my bf's was JJ - i like human names for pets, it gives them a personality :)

Wait a few days and maybe something will pop into your head. You can draw from his personality of what might fit him. Like feisty or whatever. Also, ask your son if he has any ideas. Since his dad's name is teddy, you could call him bear :)

My sister and I have taken to naming our pets after singers. Some names we've used are janis "joplin", jimmi "hendrix", james "taylor", "norah" jones, paul "simon", "sophie" b hawkins, "miles" davis, and "marvin" gaye. Its always much easier to come up with a new name when we have a smaller pool to choose from.
Perhaps something like Mic Jagger or Louis Armstrong.

Why is it that women are more willing to take advice and suggestions from other people then men are?

How 'bout Louie?

And really, who cares if your dog is FULL BLOODED. Mine are mutts with capital a "M" and I wouldn't trade them for your puppy for all the money in the world.
