Above are good answers. Also, if you will "Read" the active ingredient on Frontline and go to a farm supply store you can buy a Dog Dip that similar and a lot cheaper. "READ" the directions on the bottle to Dilute Properly. Remember this stuff is concentrated just like Frontline and you can actually use it the same. Just use a very small amount and apply like frontline.
Now, you have eliminated the "Homesteaders" you need to eliminate the source which is your yard. Buy a bag of those Granules and wearing rubber gloves or using a Seed Spreader apply this stuff to the yard and slightly wet with a Garden Hose or do it after a rain. Water activates it. Once this has been done you only have to use the Granules around the perimeter of your yard with fairly good results and not have to use anything on your dog.

Frontline Plus works wonders. And fast.
Plus, if there are fleas that have gotten in your carpet,
it'll take care of that, too. When the fleas jump back up on
the dog, it'll kill them, too.
But Frontline is very expensive, too. I bought some the other
day and it was like $47.00 for a 3-pack. It's getting to be a little bit ridiculous.

There are currently two excellent medicines your veterinarian can prescribe. They consist of a thick, oily fluid that you put on the dog's skin - the vet will tell you how to do this. It isn't terribly expensive and it really does the job. So take your dog in for it's checkup and shots and ask about the flea treatments at the same time.

Buy a collar with a special coating to repel the fleas. Bath your dog once a week, or take it to the vet for an injection to repel the fleas and create anti-body from fleas.

Just like the ads say: Frontline or Advantix are the only flea meds which truly work. You may pay a little more $ for them but it WORKS so it is worth it. I have tried other brands which did not work & finally found the Frontline & Advantix which worked. I noticed a difference within a day of application. Save your pennies if you have to & get one of these products.

You can safely bath your pet in the Dawn dish washing liquid, but rinse well. This will kill all fleas on the pet. Then apply the once a month Flea drops called "ADVANTAGE" and spray your lawn with a flea killer, but don't allow pet on it til it is dry.The Dawn is used by wildlife rescue for oil spills in the oceans.Very effective product. Most feed stores carry the advantage, but if not you can purchase at any vet clinic according to weight of your pet.

Frontline or Advantage do work.
Never use the Hartz products. They have had a lot of trouble with bad reactions. They also don't last the entire month.
I use Bio Spot. It is otc and it works. I've used it for over 10 years on all of my dogs and on all the rescues that I have had.
