I just moved in with my mother. Her yard is about 1/4 size mine is. I brought my two germain shepards here and I need to find a real fast way to stop them from digging before my mother gets too aggrevated and tells me to find another home for them. I tryed clipping the nails on one of them and hit her quick. I felt terrible. I have had a hourse before for a long time on a boarding stable and I have seen other horse owners hobble their horse for some reason or another, without harm. I am thinking that will be a very fast way of stopping my dogs from digging. I have done reasearch on line and found nothing. Please help. I will move out of my mothers house before I give up my dogs. All three of us will be homeless. lol

I am moving to an apartment, and my dog has separation anxiety (basically he barks when I leave). I am afraid I will not be able to keep him in an apartment because he is so noisy. "De-sensitizing" training does not work. What can I do?

We have a 6 year old Beagle that we can no longer keep. beagles are a dime a dozen. They are not sought after dogs and such I am having a hard time finding a home for him.

The rescue will not consider him b/c they don't view him as needing to be rescued.

Any suggestions?

I just got a 4 year old Great Swiss Mountain Dog. He is HUGE. Anyway, I want to change his name. I would like it to be some sort of music term. This far, the vote is between Opus and Cannon. What do you think?

...Im going back to work finally after about 6 weeks of being laid off, My doggie has been by my side the whole time, and I feel guilty, like he's gonna be alone all day, when I do leave, I leave the TV on so he has a sense of not being alone, and he can sit in the window to look outside, but I feel so Frigging guilty, I've had him for about 4 years. Anything else I can do to make him comfortable ?

How do you get a full blooded Doberman? I understand a pure blooded Doberman with a pure blooded Doberman of different parents, but I just had a friend tell me that you breed a brother and sister or mother and son. Isn’t that just a disaster waiting to happen????? Isn’t that how pure breeds get all sorts of allergies or hip problems, etc. …..never mind the 3 eyes the poor thing is going to have!!!! Does anyone know of any websites that can better explain.....?

I have a 7 month old shiba mix puppy. He loves chewing up my kids stuffed animals, fleece blankets, my kids bedding, my daughters coats, winter boot inserts, and also chewed holes in there bean bag chair!!! I realize most people would say get rid of the dog but my son loves him and i would like to try to keep him. I have tryed punishment by puting him outside for a few minutes and ignoring him for a little while and it did no good. I have bought him chew bones and a ton of toys and he seems to prefer to chew up and on other things in my house. What do I do with this puppy? Do I call it quits or keep trying? If i do keep trying what can i do to make him stop this behavior? Please help!!!!

I have a 5 year old Bassett Hound and training him has been a nightmare. He is stubborn as hell.
My main problem with him is that inside the house, he will listen to commands like "sit" and "down" but when we go outside he takes no notice whatsoever.
Also when I am in the park with him he will not come to me when I call him and he is not at all interested in fetching or anything.
How can I train him to come back to me? It is very annoying and somewhat dangerous as he could easily run into the road!
Thanks!
