...Im going back to work finally after about 6 weeks of being laid off, My doggie has been by my side the whole time, and I feel guilty, like he's gonna be alone all day, when I do leave, I leave the TV on so he has a sense of not being alone, and he can sit in the window to look outside, but I feel so Frigging guilty, I've had him for about 4 years. Anything else I can do to make him comfortable ?

He will adjust. Dogs are very able to adapt. Don't worry. You will be home evry evening and weekends I assume so. just love him real well then. Take him for a wlk first thing before you leave for work and he will probably sleep most of the day. When you are home give him the best you can.

Leaving the t.v. on is a good idea. I wouldn't suggest taking him to a doggy daycare because you have no idea what the caregivers do all day (if they actually make the dog comfortable, play with the dog, etc.) and you can't find out because your doggy can't talk and can't report back to you! Also, leave his favorite toys around the house so he can seek comfort around his toys, and leave the curtains on a window open so he can peek outside if he wants to. You can also call your own home phone, and when you are on the answering machine you can say hello to him and everything.

There is Doggie Day Care. But like with kids it is not the quantity of time but the quality that matters. so plan to give him some time before you leave and as soon as you get back. happy parenting

If you live alone and work, you should never have taken on a single dog in the first place. Dogs are pack animals and need company. The decent thing to do would have been to get a pair to keep each other company.

I have 2 kittens, I took 2 for precisely that reason, and they are very happy playing with each other when I am out.

I would never ever have countenanced getting one on its own.

You can hire a dog walker to come a couple times a week when you're at work to take your pup for a walk.

you ought to attempt putting somewhat vaseline on the pads of his feet to maintain the snow from sticking there. As for something of his fur, and if he won't placed on a coat, you are able to ought to adhere to the shallow snow areas to ward off the snowy buildup.
