How do you get a full blooded Doberman? I understand a pure blooded Doberman with a pure blooded Doberman of different parents, but I just had a friend tell me that you breed a brother and sister or mother and son. Isn’t that just a disaster waiting to happen????? Isn’t that how pure breeds get all sorts of allergies or hip problems, etc. …..never mind the 3 eyes the poor thing is going to have!!!! Does anyone know of any websites that can better explain.....?

Your friend does not know enough to be breeding at this point.
First of all, there is no such term as "full blooded". A "purebred" is an animal whose ancestors are all of the same breed. When you breed a brother and sister together, it's called "inbreeding". Inbreeding should only be attempted by knowledeable, experienced breeders who have a good knowledge of genetics and of the bloodline and dogs that they are working with. Done properly, inbreeding (or the less extreme version "linebreeding" ie breeding more distant relations) can improve a line of dogs, but in the wrong hands it can be a disaster.

I would do a google search for Dobermans. Also, go to a breeder to buy one. I don't think I would breed a brother and sister or mother and son. Sick!

Look in your newspaper for breeders, look online, if you see people who have Dobermans, ask them the breeder where they got it..
and good breeders will have the mother there, at the place where you pick the puppy up, occasionally the father. Good breeders will tell the truth about who the mother and the father is, but if you suspect anything fishy, don't get the puppy, because they're a lot of cash and time.

It's a little known fact, but to get a full-blooded Doberman, you breed a Rottweiler and a Chihuahua.

Many pure breeds have been over-bred. Recessive genes become more prevalent, like hip displacia, a genetic predisposition. Your best bet is to check your local area AKC -certified kennel. Mixed breeds are better.
note: don't breed Brother Sister...it will cause more genetic problems i.e heart conditions, hip problems.
