Do people here KNOW that there are books written on pretty much ANY subject pertaining to dogs?

Books about breeding, genetics, dog behavior, obedience and agility training, health and emergency care, dog shows, EVEN dog names!

Pick up a BOOK and LEARN something BEFORE you decide to buy a Whateverdoodle or breed brother/sister/sire/dam!!!

Technically she is my sister's. She is about a year old and she is a very well behaved dog. I brought her home with me so she could have the puppies at my house. My sister has 2 kids who would not have been able to keep their hands off the puppies, not to mention I was more excited that she was having puppies than anyone else. When I brought her home I made sure that she was comfortable in my home and took her to the pet store to cheer her up. She adjusted very well, but she has become very clingy and attached to me recently. I do not mind this but it is to the point that she will go sulk in the other room and looks very sad all of the time now. I am confused as to what is actually going on with her. She doesn't seem to feel bad but how can I tell for sure. She seems sad and she spendsalmost more time with me than her pups. I want to do something with her but I am not sure how long is ok for her to be away from the pups and I would like ideas of what would possibly cheer her up

he is 4 years old...he used to throw up maybe once or twice a month and now he throws up like every other day..i dont get it...ive changed dog foods...and its always a yellowish liquidy color...no chuncks or anything hardly just yellowish watery fluid..and its a violent throw up, sounds like breathing issues too..i wonder if he has bad sinus problems? cause he also snorts and sounds wheezy sometimes...the thing is 5 minutes later he is running around playing with his toys and back to his old self...

any ideas?

I have a dog who is 13yrs old on Monday and recently she has started barking in the early hours of the morning. I am having to get up and let her and my other dogs out, but she will then not settle back down until I have given her her breakfast. Even if I ignore her she will whine and stand at the door which in turns sets the other dogs off. This morning she started at 0230hrs I tried not to feed her but gave in and ended up feeding them about an hour later. This is making me very tired as I am struggling to get back to sleep once I have got up any suggestions on what I can do.

I have mutts, but I have neighbors who have a weimaraner. This dog is amazing and no matter what amount of training and obedience this dog has had, it still outsmarts it's owners.

It's comical from our point of view, but frustrating for my neighbors.

Anybody else been outsmarted by their weimaraner? I hear this is one smart breed...

Well I've lived with dogs my whole life but they've always either been house trained or a puppy from a shelter where it was already being house trained. My boyfriend and I picked this buddy up last night from a pet store and I didn't realize how much of a bad idea it was to get a pet store puppy because they're basically trained to eliminate in their crate.

I called the store this morning because he's basically been holding it to go in the crate. I can sit for hours with him outside or at the pad at the door and he'll just hold it until I put him back in his crate. They told me to try putting the pads in his crate without the divider, but they didn't tell me when to start moving it to the door. He's 12 weeks old now so when should I start working him into the outside? Any other advice would be helpful.

Hi guys! I recently got a 6 month old puppy. She is a shy puppy and is very scared of humans. i understand that it will take a long time for her to get out of that shell but what worries me is that she doesn't eat a lot and sleeps all day. She will eat maybe once a day and only about 1/3 of a bowl then. She is drinking water but she sleeps all the time! I havn't ever seen her not sleeping. She doesn't play or anything. She had a new pet visit with the vet and the fecal/heart worms both came back showing nothing. Am i just paranoid or is there something wrong with my puppy?

what can I do? My dog is being given away tomorrow. I might be able to visit him, I'm not sure! What if he doesn't forgive me for leaving him? I love him to much. He'll hate me! I'm depressed! He has a serious skin condition and bites little kids. Since my 3 year old cousin comes over all the time, and we have to lock him in his crate. My parents think it is best to give him away. I can't take this! What do I do? I hate feeling like this, it's horrible! I'll miss him too much. I'm trying to stay strong, its just too hard. Please help, I'm sad!!!!!

We just went to the animal shelter and they had the cutest, but fattest, beagle I've ever seen. She weighs 44 lbs! I want a dog so bad and fell in love with her. How do you help a dog lose weight?
