Another thing that can bring on liver problems (if your dog is older) is what he ate most of his life. There are certain foods that can cause long term damage on the liver if fed frequently throughout a dog's life. Your vet can provide you with a list of those foods(they're people food). Some medications can also. i.e. Rimadyl. If your dog has been on any meds your vet should have warned you of the risks.
