My 1 year old dog likes to dig small holes in random spots through out our back yard. I was wondering what is the best way to stop this habit.

This is NOT MY DOG so please do not tell me to have him neutered. I am sitting for him this weekend and I am afraid that this 185# raging hormone (Fila) will make me nuts by Sunday or at the least drag me out into oncomming traffic.
I have the seeking suspision that there is a female in heat coming into the yard at night... there are three distinctive spots in the yard where he will drag me to. He will sit at the door for hours whining to get out. When I take him out (on the leash--the fence was taken out in a strom last week and wont be fixed until next week) he drags me to these spots, marks and drags me to the next one. I am not his owner and if anyone out there is even slightly aware of the Fila breed you know what I am up against.
Is there anything I can spray on the yard?? I was told to put vicks on his nose but I'm having issues with that.
There are a couple of you guys out there that I really hope will give me some good advice. Thanks

My puppy was diagnosed with ear mites and while we are giving him his drops he is still scratching his ears like crazy, so much so that he is starting to lose the hair on the crown of his little head. Will this grow back after the mites are cured or will he be stuck with premature bald patches? It's just that the area looks so smooth and pink, like no hair could ever grow again! Poor thing.

My boy is almost 5 months old and very attached to me. when i got him at 2 months he was very aggressive and we've been breaking that behavior but he has always been a cry baby. He will yelp and cry if i walk out of a room. he has plenty of toys to play with why can't he relax for just 5 minutes. He is crate trained and goes in the crate everyday when i go to work he only cries if he knows i'm still in the house. once im outside he stops crying and relaxes. Any suggustions?

When is dog put to sleep due to cancer?
where is this done?
Who does it?
Does the owner have to agree?
Do shelters do this? or does it have to be a vet office/hospital?

We are taking our St. Bernard for an ultra sound today because she is pregnant. We believe she's around 3 weeks yesterday, so does anyone know what we should expect to see? I know its early, but we want to make sure that there are no complications, and the vet recommended to bring her in on the 3rd week, 6th week, and ninth week. Has anyone ever took their pregnant dog for an ultra sound before? Can you see the pups, or just blobs? I am so excited if you can't already tell, this is her first time!

I am going to get my 6 months old female boxer spayed next week. My vet said he will have to keep her for 2 nites. Is that normal? I thought usually it's one nite. Also, he is charging $350. other vets, i foud out, charge anywhere from 200-250. My vet is known to be a really good one around my area though...I don't know what to do. Please help. Thank you so much!

I have a almost 3 yr. old overweight Pomeranian-Chihuahua. She weighs about 12 lb. now. When she was little, I tried every kind of dog food out there and she just wouldn't eat. She would starve for days and then eat half a meal. This went on too long, so I gave in and started feeding her people food. The vet agreed that letting her starve herself was not healthy for her. Now she's been eating lunch meet and scraps for EVER and the vet said she should be on a ground beef and rice diet because her weight is too hard on her little knees. I just bought her rice, ground beef, and veggies to mix together but I don't know how often to feed her and what portions? I can't find it on the internet. Can anyone tell me?

Thanks!

I cant handle the pain that i have been though..... My boxer Maxine died 11-07-2006. She was my best friend, my dog and my everything. She was always there for me to make me happy when i was down. The other day my b/f was arguing with me and told me that my dog was done and dead, and that really up set me. Just because my dog has died does mean i dont care about her still. Me and my b/f have been together for 2 1/2 years now and he knows how much my dog means to me. If i start to cry from thinking about her my b/f gets piss and is like well what about thor ( thats his dog NOT my dog ) Thor is not the same as my dog. my dog is the reason i am still here today. She was my best friend, my companion, and she was like a kid to me. That dog was my world. What happen was she was really sick and we had an appointment to put her to sleep ( that was the worst decsion i had to make) at 2:45 at 1:30 she was whining real bad like she wanted outside. we took her out there and she diedd in my arms...

Okay, my husband just got back from Iraq and he thinks he should still be rescuing. Which you know, there is nothing wrong with that, it makes me happy. But ugh, sometimes it's like...okay we already have all we can handle couldn't you have picked a better time?? Anyway. He came accross this little female pit looking dog that was abandoned and looks horrible. In my opinion it is about to be ate by fleas (I may be exaggerating), would it be better to go ahead and take it to the vet or can we save some money and use some shampoo or some kind of remedy? I'm about to go crazy because I'm at work, and I don't want that dog around my little baby (my dog) and I'm debating on whether to call the vet and set up an appointment or go and buy shampoos and stuff. Is it worth spending time on trying to skip the vet or should I go straight to the vet? My heart is telling me call the vet but my budget is telling me to look for another option. What do you think from personal experience?
