well it really doesnt matter how big the daddy most of the time the puppies come out the same size and mutts are actually good dogs.you shouldn't stress your self if she does get pregnant there is a shot you can get to abort her puppies only if you want to but i wouldn't. hope everything goes alright.

If you can't afford a spay or a C-section, then you certainly can't afford the costs of prenatal care and postpartum care of the dog and a litter of puppies until they can be given away. :-/

Sorry, but you've put yourself between a rock and a hard place. This is a situation that could have been EASILY prevented.

Here are your choices:

1. If she's not too far along, have her spayed NOW. You might have to do some calling around to find someone able to get her in on such short notice....don't be surprised if all the best DVM's are booked too far in advance. Depending on the stage of pregnancy, it's riskier to the mom and more expensive to spay a pregnant dog, so the sooner the better. Done in the first trimester, the feti are barely the size of raisins and you can't even tell that they're going to be dogs. The extra cost is minimal at that point. Done after that, the puppies will be under anesthesia along with the mom, but simply won't be able to wake up from it because they will be contained within the uterus that is removed. Extra costs can be substantial, due to the extra time and materials required due to all the extra blood vessels, the size of the uterus, etc. It's not something any DVM 'likes' to do....but it's actually more humane than allowing unplanned/unwanted puppies to be born, only to then euthanize them or have them die of hookworms or parvo. And even if you find them a home, you've just taken away the home needed by a puppy that's already here and caused it to be put to sleep instead. It's a no-win situation. :-/ But if you're worried your dog could die giving birth (possible even if the male was the 'correct' size for her), then this would be the best option for you and your dog.

2. Wait and see....and cross your fingers and pray that she doesn't end up needing an emergency C-section in order to try and save her life. Start saving up money for the costs incurred with pregnancy and raising pups even if she has them without assistance, however.

There are lots of ways you can raise money for whichever option you choose. See this thread (here in YahooAnswers) for ideas:

The suggestions I made in my post are the quickest. The poster at the end listed several useful links of some charitable groups which might be willing to help you, but it will probably take time to apply and be accepted, etc.

You and your neighbor should of been responsible pet owners. Your neighbor should contain their dog properly and you should of taken precautions w/an unspayed dog. If you didnt want puppies you should of had her spayed. The vet can still do a spaying even when shes pregnant. Better have a radiograph done on her to make sure she can whelp out if all other options are not for you. If you cant afford or want to pay for a spaying or c-section your best bet would be to find a new loving and caring home for her. I hope she is UTD on all vaccinations and dewormings along w/heartworm and flea prevention. You need to take care of this dog and make sure nutrients is in proper order along w/her being physically fit. I wish your dog the best of luck since that seems to be the only thing she will get is our prayers and luck.

If the dogs are similar in size (many small dogs can deliver with little complications when bred to medium sized dogs) and there may only be one or two puppies (that are large). If you wait for her to give birth, there are risks that she and the puppies may die. C-section will assist with the delivery but not your bank account. Talk to the vet and see if you can set up a payment plan. If you decide not to spay her now (and let her have them) you can leave her at some vets for her to deliver there. If she has complications, then they can do the emergency c-section. Your cheapest option is to spay now and avoid any complications, if you dont intend for her to have anymore pups. If you do, then you have to decide if you are going to chance it or take her in.

Well if you did not want her pregnant why is she not spayed.
Call your vet and make an appointment to have it done now.
It can be done and you won't have pups to deal with.
The size of the pups is mostly determined by the size of the female. Unless you have a breed with a large head she should be able to deliver them ok. If you have certain breeds many of them need to have a c-section for each litter.

If you didn't want her pregnant you should have gotten her fixed. Also, why are you letting her run around the neighborhood anyway? How did she get with the neighbor's dog?

You need to be a more aware dog owner because next time you could find her flat in the middle of the street.

Depending on how far along she is in the pregnancy, take her to the vet and have her spayed. They will do the surgery if she is not too far along. Yes, bred with a lot bigger male, you will probably have to have a c-section done. If you don't, you could loose her.
GET HER SPAYED !!!!!

If you are this concerned, you should make sure she is put up so she can't get knocked up!! She will deliver just fine, but get her fixed! There are too many dogs in this world in the first place! If you looked it up, you would see how many die every day because there is no place for them to go. Don't be part of the problem, be part of the solution! If you can't afford to get your dog fixed, at least keep her put up so she can't get knocked up!!

First of all you talk of your"MUTT" as if she is a useless dog.

...and you're not going to like my answer!

If you would not have allowed her to be exposed to the "BIGGER MUTT" while she was in heat you would not have come across this problem. Be responsible and have a vet check her out.

Do what is right for the dog and then get her spayed.

Well first you should take her to the vet. They will be able to tell how big the pups are and will be able to tell when she is close how big they are. As far as not wanting her pregnant. They can abort the puppies and spay her, but it will be a bill also.

Get her spayed. Many vets will spay a pregnant dog. Your local humane society or SPCA will do it at low costs. This would remove the soon to be puppies situation.
