Baby wipes really help, if used consistantly..Just be sure to ge the unfragranced ones.
As far as home remedies, once there is stain, the store bought ones are best...such as Bright Eyes..But the babywipes reduce staining.

Many people gave ideas on how to clean the stains, but there isn't anything to get rid of the stains for good or to keep them from coming back. It's part of the breeds' trait.

If the dog is adult and still tearing his tear ducts might be blocked. All puppies tear but the tear ducts should open up by themselves after a few months. In smaller breeds, they often don't. A vet can do a simple test to determine that. Unfortunately, if they need draining, the dog must be sedated or put under.

There is a product called Angel Eyes. Works slowly but works great. Go to pinkpaw.com and look under spa and grooming.

Theres this stuff called tears away or tear-away and you just put it in the dogs' food and the dark stains and "tears" go away. My grama uses it on her shi-zhu and it works great. you can get it almost any pet store.
