I would think that word of mouth is most effective. Who better to trust then your friends and relatives when they tell you about a wonderful veterinarian in the area?

Are you just starting out in a new area? Probably not the type of answer you're looking for though.

Television works well. Call your local station, and your cable company. You would be surprised to learn how inexpensive it can be!
