Dogs respond to size and voice. They are attracted to women because the higher pitched voices and smaller size are less threatening. Also, as mentioned earlier, the fluctuations in hormones that they sense also play a role. It is really very similar to the reason that people are more likely to talk to a woman about their issues, and in a possibly dicey situation would feel less threatened if approached by a woman than they would if approached by a man. On this same line, most dog bites are fear reactions, and dogs are much more likely to be afraid of men.

Women pump out more hormones into the air than men do, especially if they are on their period. With the heightened sense of smell of wolves, bears and other creatures they tend to be attracted to women more often.

However, men hang out with dogs more often (as a rule). When you around something more, you are more likely to experience more of the range of emotions that thing can have. Dogs are more likely to attack males simply because more often than not they are the ones around to be attacked (if the dog should lose its mind for some reason).

wolves (and dogs) have their own rules of etiquette---
(--How long to hold eye contact, how high a voice should be, etc.)
---By Those rules, the way men (in this culture) act is more apt to be *rude* than the way women act. If they think you are challenging or threatening them they will not be friendly

Woman are just naturally mothers. Maybe they can sense the testosterone in males, and feel threatened.

Dogs can sense aggression. Dogs bite mostly out of fear and men are naturally more aggressive by nature. They can smell or sense it somehow
