I know personally that Great Danes are big but are they bigger then a wolf? Gray wolves are the biggest of the dog family but some how i am having trouble picturing a timber wolf that is taller then a great dane... So which is it? Gray wolf or Great Dane?

I live in Sherman Oaks, CA and am looking for a new Pug puppy. I am trying to find a new pup from a respectable breeder. Traveling a bit is not too much of an issue. Within 60ish miles would be great, but a bit futher would be considered. Within the L.A., San Fernando Valley area would be even better!!!! :) Any help or suggestions would be great.

My dog, 1/2 shelti/1/2 lab is less than a year old, about 60 pounds, and a digging maniac. He digs around the fence, the house, the deck, and around trees. We rub his nose in it, hit him, put him in his kennel...nothing is helping. Not quite sure what to do, but about to give him away. My son will be heartbroken, but I'm not quite sure what else to do. Any advice??

Way back when dogs were wild animals, what compelled humans to domesticate them? How did the original dogs look like that branched out all the breeds of today?

I know there are thousands of dogs a month being put to sleep because of overpopulation. I know it is very physically demanding for my dog and I dont what her to have puppies. I keep telling my mom of all the bad things that could have to my dog if she breeds them. I love my dog so much and I would hate if anything happened to her. Can you give me more reasons why my mom shouldnt breed her? I need some more counter-arguments. Thanks for your time.

Hi, my dog is sick. He wont eat or move, not even for a treat. He just lays there, his breathing is shallow also and he let's out these groans from time to time. What is this and what should I do?

We took him to the Vet for these exact same symptoms about a month ago, but they went away and he became his normal playful self again. Now it's like the virus or whatever it is has come back . I'm clueless, help?

Thanks and God Bless

Ricky

about me~
i live in the suburbs in a nice family neighborhood. so i do want a dog who is at least fairly good with kids. also i want a dog who is AWSOME!! with strangers. because we entertain alot and people are always coming in the house and backyard. we have a Large backyard the thats is WELL fenced and there is no chance of him getting out . we are willing to RUN him and run him as until he drops!! i do have another dog and i would like a dog who gets along well with all other dogs.he will be out in the backyard most of the day unless it gets to hot or starts raining or somthing, and he will sleep in the house. ... well i think that just about covers aevery thing!! do you think that the siberian husky would work.... oh and i will be with him most of the day because i work from home .. thnx!

I used to give my dog 3 walks a day. After moving I only give him a walk 2xs a week. Just wondering what's normal because I feel like I am neglecting him now, although I know he was spoiled before.

I have a Pom/Min.Eskimo. I am worrid because she was vomiting tonight. I never had a pet before so I don't know how serious it may be. She was vomiting her puppy food and then some yellow slimy liquid. She also just wants to lay down, we call her name and she doesn't want to be bothered. I don't know what to do.

We took vet advice and went with a 1/2 pill of Drontal Plus now and then again in 3 weeks for our new 8 week old puppy that had not been de-wormed yet NO worms were found in feces. Vet said roundworm eggs that are microscopic could still be present even on the coat of the dog and urged regular handwashing for my 10 year old who over does that already. He said in some individuals blindness had occurred in those infected with roundworm-mainly children. We are washing our hands FREQUENTLY now as my daughter became quite scared of the pup as a result. Any practical advice to calm the excessive handwashing out there re: puppy as a possible contaminant? On the internet, the CDC publishes th10,000 new cases of infection with roundworm and 700 cases of permanent visual loss in children mainly 5-10. My daughter, thank God is healthy and with the negative sample, I just have her wash hands after playing with the pup and prior to eating as the vet said. Anyone aware of this or have advice?

i think its really awkward when i see someone across the street walking their dog too and then its awkawrd becus my beagle stares at their dog and they dont bark or anything they just stare and the other dog owner just waits to let the dog stare but i just go ahead and just continue the walk and my dog follows evenutally.

is it bad manners to do this? even if my dog growls and barks at the other dog?
should i jsut wait and let them stare at each other

btw it just happened a few minutes ago when i was walking my dog and i just felt so weird the only thing i could do was to just ignore the other dog and owner and just go.

wat do u do when u do this?

btw i walk around my neighborhood. so its just homes.

His eyes, ears, and nose are a itchy mess and he looks hideous. However he is acting completely normal and happy, except for the itching. He has an appt with the vet tommorrow, but I'd feel better if someone gave me an idea what it could possibly be.
