Hi, my dog is sick. He wont eat or move, not even for a treat. He just lays there, his breathing is shallow also and he let's out these groans from time to time. What is this and what should I do?

We took him to the Vet for these exact same symptoms about a month ago, but they went away and he became his normal playful self again. Now it's like the virus or whatever it is has come back . I'm clueless, help?

Thanks and God Bless

Ricky

What did your vet tell you a month ago? Based on your descriptions he could be having a mild seizure? He won't move at all? Are his eyes glazed over or can he look at you? Not all seizures are violent... does he drool? Please explain what does not move at all means... he just doesn't get up and walk or he 'doesn't move' and doesn't respond to you at all? How long has he been like this? He could just be sick... it could be a number of things... not enough information...

Dogs don't get viruses that would make them sick like that. I would first think that maybe he ate something that is not agreeing with him. Has anyone thrown anything over your fence that he could be getting ahold of. My next thought would be something internal going on. I would ask the vet to do some bloodwork. This way you can narrow down what is going on. The vet will also need questions answered like; Is he having bowel movements, are they bloody or clear and mucousy, any vomiting, urinating a lot? Questions that will lead him into the right direction for treatment. definantly call the vet in the am & request some bloodwork.

Oh my! This sounds like symptoms of a dog going to die...but in this case I think there is something else going on. Did yoour vet say anything to you about why this was happening? Maybe try a different vet. God bless and good luck!

I'd take him back to the vet...soon if possible.

I'd also look in the phone book, and call a pet emergency line. We did that with my kitten - they gave us some advice and were very nice and knowledgeable.

Has he gone to the bathroom at all? You want to make sure he's drinking, eating and going to the bathroom - those are all important things. If he does not start eating/drinking soon, I'd take him the to vet immediately.

Good luck....my prayers are with you and your dog!

I suggest taking him to the Vet again. Maybe a double opinion would help. My dogs had a similar experience. One time it was just too late and I don't want this to happen to yours. Don't freak but better safe than sorry!

try calling your vet, and if he can't start dishing out some answers fast, or show some concern, take him to a different vet. I hope he's ok! I'll say a prayer for him!!!

Brace yourself for the worst and remember that all animals have to die sooner or later and i hope this doesnt sound mean.

Remember the good times and forget the bad because your adorable dog will always love you and know that you cared.

Get a 2nd opinion from another vet.
And call your local pet store for advice, too.
I know PETCO has an on-staff doctor for your puppy.
Good luck, this from a cat person.

TAKE HIM TO THE VET IMMEDIATELY!! it sounds like he's having a severe allergic reaction to something! he probably had an allergic reaction before, but it wasn't as severe and he was able to get over it. but this sounds worse!
