NO NO NO - this animal is not a family dog like a Labrador or retriever! It loves to work ALL DAY and will run non stop the moment it find a opening in your fence or gate. Its been bred to work HARD and run HARD, that's not rolling over and fetch stuff!. Spare yourself the pain of searching the streets once it got out or it being run over by traffic or worse still the cause of an serious accident. And believe me, it will get out cause its clever and very powerfull. When it does get out, it will not find it way back home, it just goes. I cannot stress enough that this dog is not a pet, it is not a guard dog, its a worker, working makes it happy. When your visitors comes for a visit and your furniture and everything else is full of husky fur.......cause there is lots of that too??Do not let the beautiful appearance fool you. See www.homelesshusky.com
Best of luck with your choices.

This is comming from someone who actually owns Siberian Huskies and is telling you person experience.
I have 4 Huskies. They are great dogs. Mine are very affectionate. But they are hiper. They like to dig. Mine have dug under my fence so many times that I have had to repair it more times than I can count. They shed something ferce. Looks like you shaved a sheep. They need to be kept in a fenced yard. No questions asked! They have a natural instinct to run and if they get loose, chances are that you will not see it again. Mine are great with my kids. I have never been biten and neither have my family. They are bad guard dogs, cause they are more likely to lick an intruder to death than to attack it. My male is sick right now, so he is living in the house. He has been so good.
I personally love my babies and would not ever want another breed.

I have a 6month old Siberian Husky and wouldn't trade her for the world. One wasn't enough I am collecting another one tomorrow!! They are extremely friendly and would love nothing better than to play all day whether with other dogs or people. They do have endless amounts of energy so alot of exercise is needed so they wont get bored. Do research the traits and characteristics of the breed before you get one although to make sure you are making the right desicion and buy from a reputable breeder

It relies upon on the husky and the small breed. If both canines favor to be the dominent canines you'll have complications. for people asserting huskys are continually pleasant, not authentic. Siberian Huskys are on the health and human amenities maximum deadly canines record with the aid of contributing to the most human deaths. I genuinely have a really staggering siberian husky, yet she became residing with my sisters lady husky and they fought to the quantity we had to flow to the emergency vet. I now have my husky and a black lab and they get alongside great, it genuinely relies upon on how the canines is raised, my sisters is very aggressive in the route of people and canines. I take my canines to the canines park the position she socializes with many breeds, she has gotten in some small fights with different lady dominent canines, the canines i watch her heavily with are lady chows, malamutes, and different lady huskys. she will be able of also warn canines once though they hump her (shes spayed) 2d time she growls. My element of this lengthy answer, spend a even as with both canines, make sure you recognize their personalities and behaviors earlier leaving them on my own and they are likly to be great acquaintances like my 13 12 months old black lab and four 12 months old husky.

I love Siberian Huskies so much. If there were any way I could have one I would but they are very independent, like to think on their own, and there is almost no way to get them enough exercise. I just don't think that with what you've listed that one would work out well with you because you have much the same situation I do (I just don't have kids!! :-) I would recommend a Labrador, that's the breed I have selected, they are great with kids, love people, and are generally just happy to be around people.

Friendly Hello,
Siberians are not my dog of choice. But for a very short time I had rescued one and this dog is living the lap of luxary now with its new family. I strongly recommend contacting my friends who have this dog. They have also puppies that are sired by the dogs in the Disney show 8 below. Here is there website. Tell them Kelly recommended you for your next family member. They got Chandice through me.

Hi I have been breeding Sibs For twenty Years and if you came to my kennel for a interveiw for a pup ,you would be a great canadite. You have everything it takes to own one.Siberians will gett along with everyone if they are brought home as babies,Because they are a pack dog which means everyone at home even the nasty old cat becomes family to them. They are no good as protection (they will help the theif with everything)as long as they are brought up with lots of people around they are possibly one of the best dogs for you

I'm not an expert on dogs but from what I do know I think it would be A VERY BAD IDEA. Huskies aren't supposed to be pets, they are bred as working dogs and are meant to be active and mostly stay outdoors.
Your dog would probably get very bored and unhappy as a family pet, even if you exercised it regularly .
They are cute though.

Make sure you don't live in a hot climate as they tend to suffer and shed twice a year. You have to comb them once every couple of weeks. They are prone to cataracts. They get bored easily and love to dig. I had one and they are problem solvers and will dig under fences and team up with other dogs to create mischief. They are good with kids and friendly with strangers.
