My dog is a small sized one ... a spitz. It pisses in select areas in the house. How should I stop that ? Is it becoz dogs tend to mark their teritory ? When I take it out for a walk I let it piss where it wants and it does it in 10 places in a 10 min walk. Can that be reason why it wants to do the same in the house ?

I have a 11 week old puppy that is getting spayed tomorrow (She's 1/2 Chi and 1/2 Min-Pin). Presently she does not let you pet or cuddle her. When you reach down to pet her she ALWAYS thinks it's to play and starts nipping. Will her being spayed make her want to be held more instead of everything being a game to her? TIA

I have a lab who like all labs and puppys chews on everything. I do have a cotton filled "mat" for his kennel, but he chewed on it. He has things to do in his kennel so its not lack of toys. Its almost like he only wants the cotton filling inside not the sheep-like stuff on the outside. Would the cedar maybe help deture him?

I would really appreciate the help of a bulldog breeder to help me out with this question. I understand that english bulldogs have shallow hip sockets (acromyons) so the head of the femur is held in place more with muscle rather than the suction force that I know humans have. I have a 4 month old english bulldog and he hurt his left hip/leg while playing which responded to anti-inflammatory agents. We took an X-ray and the veteranerian (that was not an expert on the breed or a surgeon) said that he does not have a left hip joint or acromyon. I need to know if this is normal for this breed or if I need to have surgery (total hip replacement, etc.). Thank you in advance.

kittens are 6 weeks old. molly (poodle) always takes the same kitten. mother cat doesn't mind. molly growls and nips at me when i try to take kitten away. kitten seems to like it also and plays with molly's ears. i have had experience with both dog and kitten litters but never saw this before. we were shocked the first time but she was persistent so we watched her to make sure she wasn't going to harm kitten. she is a young dog herself and never had a litter. she is just one year old. has anyone ever seen this before? or any ideas as to why she is acting this way.

i am a single dude living in the city. my parents owned a bunch of dogs growing up so i know what it takes to train and care for one.

my only problem is this: since i am single, i have no one to take care of the dog while i'm at work. but, if i feel i'm going to have a long day, i can always take the dog with me to work.

i'd like to buy a puppy but i know those take a lot of work initially to potty train, etc. any ideas? suggestions?

i own a toy yorkie & when i first bought her she was trained to pee on those wee wee mats... but one day she just stoped. she picked a spot and now continues to pee there ... i cant get her to pee in her designated area like she used to... so i put a mat over the area where she pees now and she'll pee on the mat ... but only because its in that particular spot! I dont understand what happened.

This is not a puppy, he's been trained. He'll pee outside, but it's like he doesnt want to go in the grass. We will be outside for an hour then we'll come in and the first thing he does is poop in the kitchen or on the deck. Thanks everyone!
