My fiance's parents have two beautiful dogs (lab mixes). They both bark excessively (which is annoying but I can handle) but the problem is this: 1 of them will repeatedly jump on people and lick/bite (playfully) their faces (he's almost 4 years old).
I grew up with labs and dogs do not bother me, but this one dog does. And they never tell him to get down or stop or anything!
One time he ripped one of my stitches out when he jumped up and his claw caught it! Even worse- my fiances parents knew I had just had surgery & didn't even tell the dog to get down until I started crying from the pain (they apologized afterwords).
My question is this- everytime the dog jumps on me is it ok for me to say 'No!' in a voice that lets the dog know I mean it? What can I do? I don't want to offend his parents but they do NOT control their dogs at all. I've tried speaking to them about it and they just say 'he's a dog'.
I'm also worried about when we have kids 1 day w/the dog like this.
Thanks!

I've been buying puppy pads and they don't seem to work too well and they are expensive. Does anyone know of a brand that is worth the money spent?

I know of a dog that accidentally became impregnated by a stray dog of another breed. I have been told that the pure breed female can no longer be used for pure breedng in the future. This makes no sense to me. Is it true?

This pisses me off to no end...they have tons of animals right? they are overcrowded right? so when they adopt out say a half labrador half beagle they set the adopt fee at 45 or 50 bucks that includes spay and all that stuff, then they will get in a full blood boston terrier or any other breed and try to charge upwards of 400 dollars to adopt the dog just cause it is purebred! what a load! it doesnt cost anymore to fix a purebred than a mutt so why the hike in price? the dog doesnt come with papers either so still why the price? and in alot of cases the adoption fee far exceeds what one would pay were they buying a new puppy of the same breed, and of coarse this puppy would come like "new" without god only knows what kind of past or abuse or neglect. so I ask you what makes these rescues think it is correct to charge higher rates for purebred dogs? they didnt pay anything to get the dog in thier rescue it was handed to them just like the mixed dogs. Seems money hungry to me.

My dog (a nine-year-old border collie) is so afraid of rain, wind, and thunder storms that he will literally destroy the house in an attempt to "escape." We can NOT control him at this time. We recently moved to a new house, where his behavior has become worse. He has torn holes in walls and destroyed the washer-dryer hookups (leading to some flooding) during recent thunderstorms. Is there anything that can be done? We can't leave the dog alone for fear it may storm while we're gone, and my dad is threatening to have him put down!

my family just got a mountain cur puppy that`s currently about 2 months old. whenever we go out to play with her, she bites and ruins our pants, and tries biting our wrists and everything! my friend was over yesterday and we were playing with her, and she big her so hard on my friends leg that she was bleeding! i highly doubt she has rabies, but the reason we got a female mountain cur was so she wouldnt be way too aggressive, but she is!!!! she keeps biting and i used all the techniques to train her to stop but when you tell her and do the technuiques she just growls and bites you harder and wont let go of your leg/ pants!!!!! and it hurts! what`s wrong with her?? my brothers are already scared to even go near her!

I am not sure whether she is really sick or nervous. I have her for three weeks now. She is a 2 1/2 yr old Australian Shepherd. Our cat got shut in the bedroom where we keep her crated. They do not like each other much. I thought maybe it was her nerves, but I walked her and she is still pooing runny and green! My hubby confessed he gave her chicken 2 days ago. Can that be the culprit? Please write back. This is not a joke!

My puppy just got his last booster on Monday morning. I have heard that it takes 5-14 days for the vaccine to work. Is it okay to take him this Sunday to play with my mother-in-law's dog? I want to start socializing him more, but I don't want him to get sick.

My dog is a small hyper dog. When I come home from work she gets very excited and jumps and tries to lick me. Soon she calms down. I always thought this was natural for a hyper dog. And also that she could be trained to not jump. I have been told that she is a very bad dog. Is this true?

I have 2 puppies, they're only 1 month 20 days old. Recently, the 2 of them have been fighting very often until they bleed. They sometimes fight for food and sometimes they just fight for nothing or maybe something which I don't know what. I love them both and I don't know how to stop them. I don't wanna chain them up. When they're fighting, I can't seperate them. It breaks my heart to see them fight and injure themselves. They're brother and sister, the mother dog is in my house also. She is a very fierce dog but not with us since young. We adopted her begining this year. I really don't know how am I gonna raise peace among them. Help please..
