The cost
If you get a purebred Pome it would be 400 to 600 bucks (from a mildly decent breeder, as a puppy. Forgot which sex is more expensive).
Vet visits and shots + checkups, which happens twice a year, is somewhere around 200 bucks a year. Though this depends on the vet.
Food is 6 to 10 dollars a bag. And the bag can last the dog a month. so up to 120 dollars a year. All depends on the type of dogfood you get and how much the dog will consume, really.
Dogshampoo, a collar, tags, bowls, brushes, a cage/bed for the dog, and such will add up to 100 to 150 dollars. Add in toys and that’ll be another 50 + over time. Add in Heartworm meds, which your dog will need, and that will be even more. Heartworm meds are expensive, but it shouldn’t be too bad for a small dog, long as the dog doesn’t get obese.
Other vet casualties, such as a broken legs, injured eyes, arthritis, or other problems such as fleas that a dog of that breed might suffer would be alot more. Easily up into the thousands, but that all depends on the problem. And who knows, if you take proper care of the dog it might not get these problems.
Dogs are expensive little critters. It’s good that you’re making sure you have the cash to commit before running out and getting one. However, if you do end up getting a small dog, I recommend going to a shelter first before a breeder. Since so many kind sweet dogs are put to sleep each year.""

You can get a pom for as cheap as $300.00 and the maximum is how much you are willing to spend, but remember, you get what you pay for. Read the AKC standard on poms and look for a breeder that breeds puppies to that standard, not just to make money. Visit the breeder and if possible see both parents. Make sure the breeder can furnish you with the proper AKC papers so you can register you puppy. Make sure the breeder has given the puppies first shots and gives you time to have your vet check the puppy and offers you a healthy guarantee against congenital defects. A puppy is an investment of love, time and money....think quality when you purchase a puppy.
Three of my poms have come from this kennel in Florida.

Also, if you can find a breeder that also shows their dogs, you may find a very good looking pet quality puppy.
I've seen some dogs that weigh 20 pounds and people call them standard poms....there is no such thing!
Please don't buy from a pet store or a backyard breeder.....

A pet store will be way overpriced and the dogs will have health and temperment issues due to coming from a puppy mill.
A good breeder found at www.akc.org will have cheaper and healthier pet quality dogs. Boys and girls cost the same if you get it from a good quality breeder because their contract will state that you spay and neuter your pup. That's a sign of a good and responsible breeder.

quite a lot certainly. My doberman Rosco is a shield canine, yet you moreover mght could desire to make confident they don't have aggression problems. you won't be in a position to have them being on shield each and every of the time, or somebody gets harm. My father is a militia veteran, and he use to shield the canine. He experienced Rosco, so it grow to be certainly particularly low-value, yet with the canine and coach value, plus lisencing and vet expenditures, a competent and properly-adjusted shield canine will value everywhere from 10,000 to 30,000 money. Getting a pup and paying for a coach is lots greater low-value, yet i wouldn't in any respect propose this. you are able to desire to appreciate precisely what to seek for interior the pup's character, and those issues at the instant are not straight forward to locate while they're so youthful. a expert will %. them out and practice them from approximately 8 weeks.

Depends if you buy one from a breeder or from a shelter. If they are a puppy or full grown. Just have to shop around if you really want one and if you want a pure breed or not. They are great dogs and make wonderful pets. My cousin and best friend use to have them and breed them. Very playful, loyal, and loving. Good luck.
