What is your opinion about this- trainers out there? I adopted a shephard-(i think) border collie mix neutered male from a shelter. He wants to hurt (not herd) my 9 cats. I cannot bring myself to take him back to the shelter- -have had no luck finding an acceptable home- so must figure out how we can all live safely and happily.

I have had a separate run built off my garage- "Jake" can get in and out of the garage and has a large chunk of yard. I get him out for a walk every day with his pals- a sheltie and 2 border collies. I bring him in the house but he has to stay in the crate. I have tried squirting him with a spray of water when he reacts loudly to the cats.

I know I will probably get some strong reactions to the idea of an electric collar but the thing that appeals to me about it is that I have been told I would only have to use it a few times and the problem would be resolved. The squirting, isolating etc. could go on forever.

I've just owned a dog for 3 days. I've tried to train her to pee and poop in a tray and outside. I saw her doing it and I did interrrupt then I took her to her tray like they say on the internet. She had peed a little on the floor. And when I took her outside, she stopped peeing immediately. I tried to make her continue peeing in the tray but she didn't. I had to take her in. After a while, she peed on the floor again. I cleaned the floor to make sure there's no more smell of her products. Anyway she still can find out and does it again and again no matter how hard i try. In the morning I took her ouside so that she could poop. I stood there for about 20 mins and she was just sniffing around and doing nothing. I love my pup and I want her to be disciplined otherwise she will be sent away. Please help me out. Thanks alot. ;)

We just got our first dog and the previous owner gave us a large bag of dry dogfood. They recommended that we keep away from canned food because it makes the poop mushy.

So I went to the library to learn about dog food and I got many books, including a cookbook for dogs. Some books advise to stay away from "all breed", "all purpose" dog food and other books that say any type of dry dog food will do.

I'm really confused now and wonder is there anyone out there that actually cooks for their dog? Once you start doing that, will the dog refuse regular dog food?

Recently our dogs were shot by a farmer living down the back of our property. They jumped over our fence for the first time and decided to go for a run. He shot them before we could find them, so we are devastated. We have fixed the fences now but wondering whether new dogs will help with the pain?

I mean they insist or suggest that you have it done but they don't pay for it...but I met this lady and her husband that got their puppy from Petsmart and she said that Petsmart paid to have the puppy spayed and the only thing she had to agree to was taking the puppy to Petsmarts vet....she only paid $150.00 for the puppy and it was very heathly and sweet...I want a puppy also but I don't know about adopting cause the shelters don't pay for anything but she said Petsmart paid for shots and spaying and other stuff and gave her free dog food....what do you think?

I saved a wonderful dog, collie with belgiko lykoskylo, of good character, 1 year old. Anyone in Greece interested?

Good job to those who reported me for putting this question in Greek! Others write really insulting things, and you made sure to delete a question trying to save a poor animal. As you see, I had a reason for asking in Greek. If you can't help at least don't hinder this. Plus I translated the question as soon as I was asked.
I expect an apology.

I found a dog today and I posted flyers, listed on craig'slist and I contacted the local pound where they have a lost and found for pets. I also walked around the neighborhood knocking on doors. This dog obviously has an owner. I cannot afford to advertise in our local paper, any ideas as to how to find it's owner without putting out any more money? Thanks everyone!

We have a 16 month old daughter and live in an apartment. We really want to get a dog for our daughter to play with, and also companionship for me when my husband works nights. Ideally, we want a short-haired, small to medium dog, non-yappy or hyper, and great with kids. Is there a breed out there that would be appropriate? We live in an area where the dog could go outside a lot when supervised and our daughter loves animals so much. We just dont know if there is a breed that would suit our needs. A cat is out of the question since I am allergic, and no birds, rodents or reptiles. Any advice from a knowledgable person is appreciated! Thanks!

The dogs normaly pointed face now looks square. I was thinking that it may be caused by a bee bite or many bee bites, but she doesn't act as if she is in any pain or discomfort and she just ate dinner without a problem.
Has anyone ever seen any simalar symptoms on a dog?

I have a golden retriever puppy. We let her loose in the yard off leash and she is fine and stays in the yard. But when our terrier mix gets loose and runs off she follows him and wont come when we call her. Why does she do this?
