All puppies should be wormed at birth and every 6 months thereafter.

Various types of worm are picked up and almost all will harm your dog and slow his development down if not treated.

The worm does not have teeth and will not bite a hole in you in order to enter. Do not swallow it, and you will be perfectly safe. That is the only power it has is inside you. Wash your hands after you play with the puppy. There are other pin worms that lay powder size eggs at the base of his tail. You can catch those. and then your backside itches a lot and you have to drink a lot of medicine..it used to be pink.( You can also catch pin worms from small children. They share them.) Then you are well. All sorts of worms can come out when you worm the puppy.. Short, fat little worms that crawl out the backside are tapewom eggs. Flees eat them and then the dog eats the flee and it has another tapeworm. Pick the worm up with a tissue or a pair of pliars, if you do not want to touch it, and smash it or flush it. Worm the puppy and the rest of them will come out the other end of the puppy. Some of them may live for a while after that. Soon these things will not be so upsetting. You get more used to stuff happening...because it always does.

We have just got a puppy recently. She is only 9 weeks old. Worming tablets were given at 2 weeks, 4 weeks, 6 weeks and again 8 weeks. The vet told us that she may will bring up some worms and they might wriggle a little, but this is because they are better out than in. You need to check when your puppy is due to be wormed again, as I have been told to reworm again at 12 weeks. You may need to do it sooner. The vet can give you a tablet when you go see them, and offer any advice and support you need.

If the puppy has vomited a worm and it's alive then they will be very active. You need to worm the little woofer asap.
They need to be wormed regularly and it would probably be worthwhile getting the vet to give you a prescribed wormer as they will be stronger and faster acting than the ones you can buy in pet shops/supermarkets.

Worms will wiggle if alive, dint panic, its common for puppies to get worms. Just get some worming tablets, put one in the puppies food, pressing it into a chunk of soft food works well

TRY NOT TO PANIC TOO MUCH MOST PUPPIES HAVE WORMS AS IMMUNITY TO WORMS OFTEN COMES AFTER 6 MONTHS OF AGE AND THE PUPPIES MUM COULD HAVE INFECTED THE PUP WITH DORMANT WORM LARVAE, THE PUP SHOULD HAVE BEEN WORMED AT AGE 2-3 WEEKS AND AGAIN AGE 4-6 WEEKS-HAS THIS BEEN DONE? YOU SHOULD BE VERY THOROUGH AND KEEP AN EYE OUT FOR MORE AS WORMS CAN SERIOUSLY HARM A GROWING PUPPIES DEVELOPMENT, YOU SHOULD TAKE A FECAL SAMPLE ALONG WITH A SAMPLE OF THE WORM IF POSSIBLE TO YOUR VET AND THEY WILL RECOMMEND AN APPROPRIATE COURSE OF ACTION,PREVENTION IS VITAL AND IT IS ADVISABLE TO MAKE USE OF PREVENTION TECHNIQUES WHICH YOUR VET CAN EXPLAIN TO YOU.

They are very active. There are many over the counter worming medicines you can buy , but I highly recommend taking your pup to the vet. HE can do a fecal exam and determine what type the of worm and if check to see if he has any other type and get the properly worm your pup.

The puppy more than likely looks pot bellied as it is full of live worms you need to either take it to your vets and have tablets or injection or go to your pet shop and purchase worming tablets for the correct age and size

Gross as it sounds...put the worm in a plastic container and bring it to the vet in the morning. It sounds like you may want to have your puppy wormed (again, if you haven't done so already).

If they're alive, you see and know. Has the puppy been wormed lately?
