%%%First of all check out three books from the library about dogs and dog training. When talking with your mom, just bring up casually something that you just learned from the books.
%%%Ask her if you can volunteer at your local shelter to help dogs, and learn more. (most shelters have a petting room, or a dog walking program, and need volunteers to just give animals attention)
%%%Study the books about choosing the right breed for your family, and comment on this often to her.
%%%Ask if you can give a dog from the shelter foster care for a week to see how a dogs fits in your family
%%%Do ALL chores as soon as asked
%%% Keep your room clean, and show that you are growing up and accepting responsibility.
but you need to remember that dogs live to be 12-16 years old, and you can't know where you will be by that time.
.Dogs don't stay puppies very long, and taking care of an old dog is expensive and time consuming...so who will be there for the dog?? Most likely the duty will be left for your mom.
.
also, during the weeks of potty training, it is Mom's furniture and flooring that will be ruined..and her table legs that will be chewed..
It will never work if she doesn't want the dog in the first place...
If you can do all of the above, and let your mom know how much you understand all of the problems that come with a dog, she may be willing to consent....but, you really do need to consider her feelings and wishes.

If I was you, I would start with really cleaning my room up and keeping it that way. Then I would ask for other chores to do around the house. Depending on your age, offer to help with dinner, or watching your younger siblings. Don't bring up the puppy everyday. Just show that you are willing and responsible enough to help out where needed. And, be cheerful while helping. This could really improve your life at home, not to mention your parents life. Before long, your parents will be so pleased with your new attitude, they may just surprise you with a puppy. That's if you have a yard and room for a puppy. Good luck to you!!!!

I am with your mom.... you will lose interest in a week or so and thne it is up to her to clean up everything that it chews up and also potty train the puppy... because you can't let it go potty anywhere it wants to... and usually kids won't clean a mess like that they way a mom wants it clean. And what about when you have to leave somewhere and it cries... I don't know where you lie, but it could drive your neighbors nuts!
So now you know all the real objections to having a puppy, use the art of negotiating and over come them if you are serious about having a puppy... or and by the way.. who is going to pay for the food? And will you remember to feed it EVERY day???

Well all Mothers know that they will wind up being in charge of the dog. No matter what the children promise will still be responsible for the pets. So to really talk a Mom into a pet you will need to promise to do another job and stick to it for several months. Good luck.

A dog is a huge responsibility. Maybe she doesn't feel like your ready to take care of a dog.
They are cute when they are puppies, but dogs grow up and they live for years. Are you ready to make that type of commitment? Or will the responsibility be passed on to her after you get tired of cleaning up after it?
If you think you're ready, ask her for a hamster and show her how responsible you can be by taking care of it.

ok, so you want a puppy? You can tell her she can get one, and if you take full responsibility for that day to show her you can take care of it, she might let you. BUT you can't have her do one thing for the dog on that day. Play with it, go to the pet store and buy it some stuff if she says yes, and do anything!!

Ask if you can watch a dog for a week. To show her how good it will be and how nice dogs are. It may have been through experiance that she doesn't like dogs or doesn't want to deal with dogs! I am watching my moms friends weimareiner and my mom said that the dog has really encouraged her to get a dog cause she say howgood I have been doing with the dog. If you can't find any dog to watch put up an add for a dog sitter or ask your friends if you can watch their dog for a little. Good luck! Bye!

well i have a couple of ways you could maybe get one my parent were stubborn too....
you could try starting big by asking for something like a horse and then move your way down
or you could say something like you feel like you need a friend at home for those times when you feel like you have no one
you could even try crying lol i found that a combination of the above three even if they are not true worked for me
good luck hope you get a puppy!!!! :)

Get some books from the library. That should impress her. I do mean library not the internet. She's probably afraid you won't take care of it. Do you have other pets? If not why don't you try asking for something that does'nt need so much care.
