Never rub your dog's nose in pee and spank him. That only teaches the dog to hide his pee from you and your dog will never want to pee when you are around, as in holding the leash and walking. If your dog had been potty trained but started peeing in the house, he may have a bladder infection, which is very common in dogs. If your 2 year old dog has always peed in the house, he was never potty trained.

He has learned that if you see him going potty, he will probably be yelled at or punished, so he sneaks off to avoid your behavior. He probably has not really been housetrained. Although he may be in a crate, that does not mean he understands where to go potty. You need to have the floor cleaned very, very well with an enzymic cleaner that are sold in pet stores, as the scent is still attracting him. Then you need to go back to puppy housetraining 101. I have a 2yr old dog too who does the same thing. Whenever he goes pee, put his nose to where he went and give him just a little spank and then lock him outside for a while. It should work.

This sounds cruel, but i have a siberian husky and a teacup yorkie and we did it with both dogs and it did the trick. They pee, you take them over to the pee, rub their nose it it and while their nose is in it, you spank them on the butt with a newspaper. It doesnt hurt at all, but they think its gonna. theyll flinch. anyways, once they associate that if they pee in the house they get spanked theyll stop. just make sure you ask if they need to go outside.

i have the exact same problem. my dog is a month away from turning 3 and he still hikes on every corner of the house. We've tried everything, but eventually just gave up. i hope it ends soon or he's gonna get neutered.
