My Newfoundland recently died and I don't know whether to worry or not. Someone please include resources I could use also.

Take his temperature, and if it is over 103.5 call your vet.
i don't know where you live and whether it is overly hot there or not, but if your dog is feverish, he may be in trouble, but if his temp is normal, it could just be the heat of summer.

I'lll watch for your post to see what the temp is.

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!! If your Newfie was around the shepherd there is probably a definite connection.I'm sorry about your Newfie, they're a good breed. The best resource is your vet. Call for an appt. or walk-in ,if possible, asap. If anything changes for the worse go to an emergency vet. Also, if this is something contagious and the other dog had it why didn't the vet show concern for the shepherd?

please take him to the vet as soon as possible. i'm so sorry u lost ur Newfoundland. i kno how u feel, losing a pet is terrible, because i recently lost my dog also. but anyway, take him to the vet, a warm nose is almost always a sign of fever. good luck.

Has any one in your house had pink eye? if the dog has lots of eye boogers and his eyes stay red he may have pink eye like people get pink eye. to make sure consult your vet. also if your dog gets sick frequently, and the vet can't figure out why after running lots of tests put him on doggie vitamins give it what is recommended on the bottle for sick dogs.

I agree with the above - fever is never a good sign, and treat it at once (at the vet's).

I also wish to thank all the above writers for a good thread where all have been polite and helpful! Love you! :-*

This usually indicates a fever of some sort. if it continues I would have a vet look him over.
