my family just got a mountain cur puppy that`s currently about 2 months old. whenever we go out to play with her, she bites and ruins our pants, and tries biting our wrists and everything! my friend was over yesterday and we were playing with her, and she big her so hard on my friends leg that she was bleeding! i highly doubt she has rabies, but the reason we got a female mountain cur was so she wouldnt be way too aggressive, but she is!!!! she keeps biting and i used all the techniques to train her to stop but when you tell her and do the technuiques she just growls and bites you harder and wont let go of your leg/ pants!!!!! and it hurts! what`s wrong with her?? my brothers are already scared to even go near her!

she`s supposed to be a hunting dog, who also pretects and guards the family. to me, it seems like she`s doing a horrible job in pretecting the family!!! my legs like sting right now cause of her bites!!!

I find myself empathisizing with GetEmGang.

8 week old puppies bite, just like human babies teeth. This isn't aggression, this is normal puppy behavior. It sounds like you have a very serious case of it, and yes, you're going to need to try to get it under control.

There are more suggestions than the ones I'm going to post, so hopefully some other folks will chime in with them.

When she bites, have a toy ready immediately to put in her mouth. Encourage her like crazy to chew on the toy. Tug with it a little bit to get her excited about it.

When she bites, do not flail your arms or push her away in a manner that even remotely suggests that you're playing with her. Even if you think you seem angry, she may interpret it as a game.

What is okay is to yelp once in a high pitched voice and go away, acting hurt. This is how puppies teach each other not to play too rough. If you have not been crate training her, I suggest you do that right away. If she keeps going after you've yelped once and walked away, put her in time out. Do not yell at her and make a big deal out of it, just calmly put her in the crate and leave the room. Wait for two minutes or until she is completely calm until you let her out again.

Puppies bite to play and to get attention. Yelling, hitting, screeching, any of that will only serve to get the puppy more excited. Except for that one single yelp, which you are allowed at the first moment of biting, keep your voice low and slooooooow, and keep your energy level serene and calm. If your energy level goes up, up goes the pup's too.

Please speak with your breeder or try to find a dog experienced person near you to help with this problem. You do not currently have an actual case of aggression on your hands, but you will create one if you do not get this under control, and as GetEmGang said, you will irreversably ruin a poor pup.

If you do your research mountain curs follow pack rules. They are great dogs, but if you show submission, I.e. Yelp, act hurt, and leave, you are showing submission to her which means you have just given her alpha dog status. In no way shape or form should you or anyone in your family ever fall below her status or she will do what dogs do to pack members below them to keep the in line, like growl and bite. Achieve alpha status and you ll have a loving, protective family member for life.

You have a serious problem here. A dog that is that agressive that young is not a good thing. You have an alpha dog, that is for sure. Lay her on her back, and try holding her down in that position, if she fights you that is a sure sign she is an alpha dog. I would say that the dog need professional training. This is not a situation where I would say you and your family are going to be able to influence her and make her into a good family pet. Good luck.

she is just a puppy..the reason she bites as hard is because shes testing you..and she has realized how hard she can bite..
mountain cur dogs are great..we have been raising them for at least 6 years now..try getting some bitter apple spray, dogs dont like the taste and its also a great training tool..just tell her no and give her another toy to chew instead..
