I have 2 puppies, they're only 1 month 20 days old. Recently, the 2 of them have been fighting very often until they bleed. They sometimes fight for food and sometimes they just fight for nothing or maybe something which I don't know what. I love them both and I don't know how to stop them. I don't wanna chain them up. When they're fighting, I can't seperate them. It breaks my heart to see them fight and injure themselves. They're brother and sister, the mother dog is in my house also. She is a very fierce dog but not with us since young. We adopted her begining this year. I really don't know how am I gonna raise peace among them. Help please..

Your puppies have decided that since here is no other pack leader, that they can rule themselves.

YOU have to take control as pack leader.

You can do this quite easily, but it is time consuming and requires Constancy.
first of all..Pick up the food dish...don't ever put it down during this training period.
Your puppies will eat ONLY what you give them from your hand.

If they become aggressive while you are feeding them, quickly, pick up the aggressor and put him in the other room, and ignore him while you feed the innocent one..Then, bring out the other (after only a few minutes) and try feeding them again.. every-time a squabble breaks out, take the offender to the other room for a time-out.
be sure to serve up their normal amount of food before you begin, so that they get a good meal...
Puppies of this age need fed 4 times per day..so that is why this method is time consuming...but, you are setting the ground rules that will help all the rest of their lives, so it is well worth it!

Puppies are even so much happier when they accept their owner as master.

Training/Education: you must become in control of the dogs. Take them to training class or pick up a book on basic training for sit/stay/come, etc. Read up on dogs especially how to control dominant/aggressive behavior. do this ASAP as the fighting will only get worse if you do nothing.

Fight prevention:
Feed them in separate bowls, if you are not doing so already. Feed them far away from each other so they can not interfere with each other. If they are fighting over something, like a toy, take the toy away!
If you see a dog trying to start a fight over something, put the dog on a time out by putting them in their crate (if you crate train them) or some other place, by themselves for a couple minutes.

When a fight happens: break the dogs up by distracting them. Try using a whistle or squirting them with water. Afterwards, calm them both down by laying them on their back and rubbing their bellies.

Buy a good puppy training book. It will teach you how to look after and distract them from negative behaviour. Lots of patience and positive reinforcement works best. Yelling and hitting do nothing. They have to know you are the boss, you are the alpha dog in the family. Keep up the reinforcements and they will learn. Never try and separate fighting dogs.. your could get injured or bitten. Dogs don't know they are hurting you.. they are just protecting themselves in a fight. Good luck.

You didn't say what kind of dogs they are, but you should still be able to separate them.

Try a squirt bottle filled with water. Separate them when you feed them, but make sure they get used to you touching their bowls.

How about a baby gate on the bathroom door for a timeout? I even set my puppy in the empty tub the other night for a timeout. I have 5 dogs, and the puppy really riles up the older ones. He doesn't know what he's getting himself into. You could also try puppy kindergarten to train them.

What kind of dogs are these? This kind of aggression is alarming. Is one dog beating up on the other, or is the incitement coming from both sides? If these dogs are aggressive, I would not feel safe having them in my home. Why did you breed a "fierce" dog in the first place?

I agree with Chetco. YOU have to be the ALPHA dog. You are their pack leader and you tell them what behaviors you will put up with. They are testing each other.

You need to do some obedience and training so that they learn you are the boss. Be consistent. Consistency is the key for young dogs.

send them to obediance school and ask them to train the puppies to stop fighting. It may cost you a little moo-lah but it will be worth it when the doggies get along. Good Luck!
