I breed and raise schnauzers and this is how I would describe puppy's sleep movement:
twitch to a small short shake=normal
a small shiver= cold
violent shake to a long steady shiver= take to vet

Yes, it is very normal, unless the pup has an illness such as epilepsy. Puppies are generally very active, and when they fall asleep, they are dreaming of doing something. Sometimes they even make noises in their sleep too. It's nothing to worry about, it's actually kind of cute to watch.
If this freaks you out, you may want to get a book on raising a puppy to help deal with all the other things that will seem strange. The best ones are for specific breeds and can be purchased at your local pet store or pet supply store.

I've had several puppies and from my experience sometimes they do shake. I notice that its usually after they've been playing really hard. I think maybe its them dreaming. Sometimes thier little legs will kick like they are running in there sleep as well. Its normal and usually goes away when they get a little older.

sure it is. Have you ever felt an arm or leg "jerk" just when you are dozing off to sleep. That is muscles relaxing, same is true of the pups. They can even move when they have puppy dreams

twiching and running in their sleep is normal. But my puppy would shake all over. I found ourt his food was too high in phosphorus (Diamond Brand)

Switched his food, now he's fine.
