My dog has had Parvo for 4 days do you think she will make it?

Does anyone have any success with Parvo with there dog. Mine has it and is going on her 4th day someone (no jokes) please tell me that they can make it. She is being treated by a vet aggressively during the day and has no dehydration and things are stable and I bring her home at night to do a repeat of the day. She has been sick for 4 days now please someone help me with this.

Just to add something. I adopted her from a rescue shelter and she was not taken care of and left in the back yard on a chain. She is 8 months old and a lab mix. We caught it VERY early and the reason she comes home at night is so she will know she is loved. We bought her a playpin and sleep in the same room with her. There is no bad change in her she is just so sick to even eat. Only fluids through the IV right now. I guess I just want to know how much longer. I love this furkid and I am so scared...

Just to update you all and thank you for all the good answers and love and support of my little furbaby. She died this morning in our arms at 8am. We spent $3,000 dollars to save her life and it was never about money. My vet and nurse were off today, but came in to be with her and us. We circled around her and for a brief moment in her crappy life she knew she was LOVED ...That was the greatest gift other then getting to spend a whole week with a dog that I rescued from the shelter. Please if you get an animal the bottom line is if you can't financially take care of them the end result is they go to the shelter for death. From disease or a state that doesn't treat any animals for disease.
Thank you for all your support!!! She is in gods hands now and though missed she will always be a big part of my family's life even if it was for only a few days of her life.

My old Dog, Major, had Parvo and he pulled through, although he suffered problems ever since. We had him put down in the end.

My advise, as one dog lover to another, is this. Does your pooch have a good chance of surviving? Give it perhaps one or two more days, and if it isnt any better, ask yourself this:

'Although it will hurt me to do it, will i be better for her to be put down and pass away peacefully?'

Its a tough battle she faces. I am surprised you are allowed to bring her home at night, that one is new to me. Sounds like if she has no dehydration, you have won the battle. It is the dehydration that kills the puppy - not the parvo. Parvo is basically like the worst intestinal flu you have ever had, where you can't keep food or water down, and you have awful runs. The reason it is so harsh for a puppy, is that they do not have the body weight to withstand the constant dirreah, and between that and the high temprature, they become dehydrated and die. It will take a week or so for you to see any signs of improvement, but if she is holding her own against it, and remaining stable, my guess would be that she is going to come through this. Keep up the agressive treatment, as that is the only way to keep her going. I foster dogs for an animal rescue group, and we see our fair share of parvo cases, most remain in the hospital for 5 days, so I would say, from your description that the worst is over, and now it's a matter of supporting her little body until she gets some strengh back.

Years ago we adopted a puppy from the pound. After only a few days it came down with Parvo. We rushed it to the vet and because we caught it early - it did survive. With your dog being older - I am sure it has an even better chance. The vet must think so also or he/she wouldn't be letting the dog come home at night. My prayers are with you - I also have two furry children I adopted from the animal shelter.

Parvo is a bad illness for dogs to go through but with enough help and early treatment they can live through it and go on to have a normal life. MayMay our now 1 year old was 5 months at the time day 5 of exposure she went in for 24hours on IV fluids then we brought her home on antibiotics, Sub Q fluids every 2 hours, and tamiflu (yep human med) and she pulled out of it. She was skinny for months and then the weight went back on and she is no worse for ware. How old is your furbaby? Has the pup been up to date on shots? Have you bleached your home, kennel, yard, doodles as you pick them up? This is very very important to KILL the Parvo left behind as it is shed from the pup. And it can come up with the vomiting. Best cue is if you see swiss cheese in the doodle or vomit that is the intestinal lining being shed.

I am a registered veterinary tech. Dogs can survive parvo. I adopted a dog from my clinic who had survived. That was 4 years ago and she is still healthy. It depends on the animal's health prior to getting it, the animal's age, and a lot of other factors. It is impossible to guarentee that it will survive, though. It's not black and white. Your vet will tell you when it's time to stop treatment and when there is no chance of survival, and give you the option of euthanizing.

I never had but my aunts dog did, it was REALY old so it didn't make it.I am sure she'll be okay just keep up the hope and love.

Four days is encouraging. Vets treat, God heals - my advice is pray. You are doing everything else you can.
