Puppy.com has a lot of pictures

Also try Petfinder

I would recommend a Yorkshire terrier, Papillion, Welsh Corgi, or Shetland Sheepdog. Keep in mind, some itty bitty dogs can be very stubborn when it comes to potty training.

You know, I tried the "breed selector" site above, and the first ten breeds they told me were best for me are actually my least favorite breeds of dog. In fact, the first 5 were terrible suggestions for my home and family. My two favorites were *way* down on the list. In fact, the breed that I grew up with, that my dad had before me, and my grandpa before him, was *WAY* down there. Strange... It looks to me like they must factor breed popularity into the equation, after they've compiled your list of suitable dogs. Good if you like to "fit in", but not so good if you're looking for something different. I like dogs that you don't see in everybody else's back yard, so I'd do better starting at the bottom of the list that they gave me, and working up.

Anyway, the best way to do this would be to go to a breed site, such as http://www.akc.org or another site that lets you look at the characteristics of *each* breed, and see what suits you the best. If you use the "selection" sites, don't take it as it is. Check out all of the breeds on the list and see what is most appealing to you.

Also, http://www.petfinder.com is a great site for looking for particular breeds and/or characteristics in shelters and rescues in your area.

Best of luck to you, and I hope you find the perfect dog!

Edit: Awww... Thank you, Chetco! Those were cute!

I highly recommend the book The Perfect Match. They cover many breeds and help you to determine what dog fits your needs and lifestyles. You want a dog that fits you. They cover looks, grooming, known health issues and what the dog was bred to do.

Although I am not a breeder of this breed, I have owned them and am so totally charmed by the adorable Boston Terrier..

they never lose their puppy-like charm, are easily trained, love to show off and remain clownish all thier lives.
