Cats - December 2007

The cats are now 2 years old and are brothers. One of them is very mellow, and the other one is very mischievous and scratches everything. I'm worried if I get rid of one, the other one would be traumatized. I can only handle one right now - for financial and sanity reasons.

She isn't fixed right now and I know she is not in heat. Her meow is cross between a growl and a meow. she doesn't do it constantly. She's done this twice in the last week and a half. She goes to the litter, but she seems to have to push really hard when going for a poop.

The poor little guy is completely afraid of me, which is natural to expect, however, I was just wondering if there was any good advice on how to make him feel comfortable/safe or to maybe help him adapt a bit better?

Or should I try to get her to stop? I don't care about the cardboard but I'm concerned that this will start a bad chewing habit.

So I want to get a Bengal. I have heard several stories that after they are full grown their personalities totally change. If they were loving they can still turn wild/crazy/psycho however you want to put it? Okay so maybe I believe too much stuff- maybe not- is this anywhere close to true? I have kids so just looking out for them and such..

Is it safe to give a 6-month-old cat a flea bath if she just had her first shots and a one-time ear drop treatment for mites?

I took him to the vet yesterday to have a scab checked out. I also told the vet that he sneezes once in awhile. It turned out he had a respiratory infection, so the doctor put him on Clavamox twice a day. He didnt tell me to mix the medication with water.. so just by following the doctors directions of twice a day, I was giving that to him. Today, my kitten puked a little. Hes not had a problem with vomiting before. Then I noticed I was supposed to mix his meds with water. Is it ok that he took 3 doses without being mixed with water or should I be concerned?

My cat has been using citikitty for a while now. Everytime I took a ring off he would have 2 accidents. Just before thanksgiving I took half a ring off trying to ease him into it more. Now every other day about he poops behind a door. He generally goes behind our bedroom door but has also gone behind the closet door. He will do this regardless of the door being open or shut. There is plenty of litter in the citikitty- so why is he doing this?

"Single kitten syndrome:

Single kittens tend to be biters. This can be helped by putting in a stuffed toy for the kitten to snuggle up to. You may also wish to find another single kitten to merge with this kitten. It is a health risk to merge them together for either kitten, but it can be really hard to break the habit of biting with a young kitten."

he was 4 weeks old when i got him, he was abandoned and i think he was taken away from his mom and siblings way earlier.

but i havent been teaching him not to bite, ive been leaving it up to my adult cat who plays really rough with him.
do you think he will learn from my1yr old adult female cat?

My fiance and I adopted a female cat in May and she is now about 2 years old. We decided we would like to get one more. I am wondering if it would be best to get a male or get another female, and what I can do to optimize the chances they will get along well, since I would never ever have the heart to return a cat to a shelter. She did live with 6 other cats before they were separated for adoption, so I am hoping she will do well with another. Some of her brothers and sisters are actually still up for adoption, and we may look into getting one of them, although I don't think she would remember them.

Does anyone have any advice on what to look for when getting a second cat and how to make sure, as much as possible, that they be comfortable with each other? Thanks in advance!
