Well of course ^^;; if you don't really know that cat then of coures it wouldn't look at you because he's probably scared cats are always like that don't worry :D

I hope the kitten is a t least 8 weeks old so that it is ready to be taken from mom.
Regarding whetehr it looked you in the eye or not I would not be concerned. It was probably a little frightened and confused.
I would try to be able to go visit the kitten as much as possible before you bring it home, That way it will really get to know you and feel safe with you and adapt to it's newhome much easier.
Enjoy having your new pet ( & responsibility)

It does not know you and has no reason to look at you yet. If you were holding it face to face with you, it was probably too terrified to look anywhere. Kittens should always be held against your chest. Remember, we are a lot higher off the ground than they are. He will be looking in your eyes in no time with the right amount of love and attention.

How old is this kitten? Were his eyes even OPEN??

Do not take a kitten away from his mother until he is 10-12 weeks old, even if they have been weaned. They NEED their mothers. Cats who stay with their mothers this long have far fewer emotional problems.

Good luck!

hey cat exspert! well, yes in the wild when a animal looks into another animals eyes it means the animals are going to fight or try to kill each other and animals never look into anythings eyes only if there ready to fight to the death, i wonder the same till i reserch

it is bad cat manners to look a person directly in the eyes, and it is bad cat manners to look a cat directly in the eyes too, kitty is just trying to be polite.

I'm sure it was just because kitty is too little and doesnt know you yet. Once you take him/her home and he/she starts to trust you i'm sure he/she will make eye contact with you.
