if you can see a black kind of waxy substance in its ears it is ear mites...take em to the vet its relatively inexpensive to treat.

Yes, relatively inexpensive to treat but not easy to treat if your cat doesn't like his ears messed with! Mine had ear mites but I can't remember the name of the medicine I got from the vet--but it cleared up the problem in no time. I don't know if the over-the-counter stuff is effective or not...

There are ear mite meds, but if that's too much trouble/expense for you, one way you can kill them is.....put a couple of drops of mineral oil in the ear, "squish" it around a little bit, then wipe the oil out GENTLY with a cotton ball. The oil will "smother" the mites. After that, clean the cat's ears on a regular basis, and he won't get them again. Hope this helps.....Good luck........

ya, just call the vet.. the treatment is inexpensive and just a drip in the cat's ear... but it does sound like earmites.
(oh and dont worry, humans cannot contract ear mites!)

The vet will give you ear drops, but they will hate them :)
