Yes this is true, yoi can test this with cats and dogs by having a toy in front, and see what paw they consistently favour

Yes they can be left or right pawed. It seems as though most dogs and cats are left pawed (the paw they show favor with).

depends, most are right pawed I think! My dog always digs at his toys he is unable to reach with his right paw. Maybe both left and right though...

Yes, they are. Although it's not as pronounced as in humans, animals definitely have 'sided' preferences. Most horses are left-sided.
