Just within the past few days he's started drooling and his mouth and nose are all crusty and black/brown. Then this morning, he was cleaning himself and his hair was just coming out in clumps, and he has open skin sores. He's an outside cat, and when I try to pet him or pick him up, he ducks or moves to avoid my touch. He usually loves to be petted and scratched. I'm worried about him, but won't be able to take him to the vet for about a week. Does anyone have any idea? For now, I'm just trying to keep my dogs away from him in case it's a communicable disease or something.

Why is it that people don't know that "free" kitten are not free?! free kittens are more expensive than the shelter cats. I see so many little kittens go to these homes where it is obvious that people don't know how to take care of them, and how much they really cost. I just saved 2 kittens within the past 4 months, and so far I have had to spend hundrends of dollars on them. After shots, and being fixed... they are not "free"... why don't people understand this?

When we feed him, we put his food bowl down on a mat but lately when he's eating he's like clawing and scratching the mat?
I thought maybe he's having trouble digesting the food? But it is wet food and we do cut it up.
Then someone mentioned to me that he's trying to hide it?

Also, when he's grooming, he seems to nibble and bite himself, is this normal? I don't think he has fleas cos he's not due for another flea treatment for another month and he hasn't been let outside once.
He's 10wks old.

It says to clean everyday... no problem.
But, then it says to dump out, clean and put new litter in once a week.
Why not just clean out and add more litter????
Whats the difference?
please explain if you could.

our kitten is funny.. she wont play with the toys we bought for her but she lov plaing with small pieces of paper (like candy wrappers n reciepts) then when my hubby pours milk into his cereal bowl, she cant wait that she drink the milk thats pouring.. and she loves hiding under the blanket! she crawls under everything! a rug, a blanket, dirty clotthes and she can stay there for hours.. and she loves sleeping inside a plastic bag as long as theres some cloth to make it comfy!

our older cat wont sit on bare floor, he has to sit on a pillow.. i taught him how to sit, lie down and crawl but somehow i cant get him to *stay* haha

pls share yours, it would be fun to hear what other cats do hehe

My cat poops everywhere but inside his liter box. However, he only pees in the liter box. We clean his box daily because he is a picky cat, so I don't know what else to do. I'm 3 seconds away from dropping his *** off at the Humane society.

i have a kitten that's 2 months old, and he was seperated from his mother very early. He goes into the litter box to poop and when he comes out, he usually scratched the side of the litter box, but never covers it. I have followed him many times to the litter box, but when i do and try to show him how, he just jumps out and runs away. Is there anyway that i can do something to teach him how?

My wife and I now share a house w/ some people (we live in the bottom level).

On the stairs dividing the two levels, we have a baby gate and two curtains on shower rods (one on each side of the gate). The shower rods are velcroed to the gate.

Our cats CANNOT go upstairs. This has not been a real issue until lately.

The other day, we found the male cat upstairs shredding our roommates bed.

All of a sudden, he is going upstairs, even though we (my wife and I) are both downstairs.

There is only one door here, and it is to a small room we keep the cats in while we are asleep or at work.

I do not want to have to keep him locked up 24/7, but I am running out of ideas!

Can anyone help keep my sanity and relationship with my cat??

He's a year and a month or so old, and he loves milk. If we leave our cereal unoccupied for a second he'll jump up and try to drink some.

I was thinking of giving him a little bit, but I wasn't sure if it was healthy for him or not.
We already have taken caution when consuming milk so he doesn't get to it. Thanks!

i figure that the cat's claws have fecal matter on them and the matter could get into my blood steam if the scratch is deep enough

She is officially 1 year old (as of this month), but she doesn't look like a full-grown cat. She still has a baby face and looks like a teenager (in cat years). Is this normal?

Both of my cats are passing their colds back and forth to each other. My little 6 month old one has it BAD!! Sneezing, choking, gagging, sinus pressure, etc. It's breaking our hearts to see her like this. Our Vet gave us medicine for them both but little Gemma keeps getting sick and sicker. Does anyone know any HOME Remedies to make this get better before it gets WORSE?

I have had my cat Tia for 3 years since he was a kitten and he has always been an outdoor cat going out of his own accord.

Wev'e moved house twice and never had a problem . We have lived here for 6 months and just this past 3 weeks he has stopped coming home and i'm having to go looking for him. I only find him on a night suggesting he is being kept in all day and when we get him back we can smell that he has been in someones house as we do not smoke and can smell it strongly on his fur.

I cannot sleep and have tried everything to get him to come back...even sardines, tuna and other treats but still he cries to go out no soon have i brought him in.

I have even put a collar on him which i hope will stay on this time and still this other house is feeding him. I am sure it is someone on the street as he is never far when we do find him but i know everyone knows he is our cat as he always used to sit outside and follow us to the shop.

What should i do?

I have a 10 year old cat and I am realizing I probably should have got insurance for her years ago but want to look into it now and am not sure where to begin. Does anyone know the best place to get pet insurance and if they will insure an older pet? I want to be sure to give her the best care possible as she gets older but being on a bit of a budget I am not sure how to approach this. Advice is greatly appreciated!
