You clearly are referring to a female kitty. It is the removal of all the reproductive organs. My kitty had it done this morning, and I am waiting for the call from the vet on the outcome.

This is very beneficial for the cat, as it removes a cancer risk that cats can develop. It also makes for having a much nicer cat. No more going into heat and all the problems that causes.

In a young kitten, after the operation, they usually bounce back to normal in a day or so.

for a female cat.. yes.. they make an incision, remove ovaries and uterus..

It's a safe procedure, though.. Every vet probably does it close to 100 times a year.. The risks are minimal and recovery is so rapid it will surprise you..

For a male cat, the surgery is even less invasive.

If the cat is female, they remove all the reproductive parts. Ovaries, Uterus, fallopian tubes.
If the cat is male...they remove the testes and the vas.

Basically yes. But it is a VERY good idea to have it done anyways, don't want little kittens around!... My cat is actually going in tomorrow to have this done.
