about the purring thing during labor, dont think she was enjoying it. Some cats purr even when they are in pain. Some purring isnt for feeling good, they also purr when they are in pain. They purr when they are in labor to help calm their nerves. Like we do breathing methods.
Im pretty sure everything will be okay with the kittens. You wont know though until they are born. Just have a vet on standby or know where the emergency vet is in case something goes wrong. And as soon as you can have her spayed so this doesnt happen again.

Keep her confined while nursing and get her spayed AS SOON as the kittens are weaned, 6-8 weeks, or she will come into heat and get pregnant, again. It's not unusual for a cat to have 2 to 3 litters PER YEAR.... rabbits have nothing on cats when it comes to fertility. A cat will get pregnant almost every single breeding-they are induced ovulators. They're pregnant for 2 months, nurse 2 months, and get pregnant again, that's a new litter every 4 months! If you can't stand the thought of aborting the kittens, so be it... as long as you are responsible about getting the kittens to new homes and vaccinating them until you find owners to take over. A spay early in pregnancy is not much different from a normal spay. If it's done later in the pregnancy, the kittens will be under anesthesia when removed and most vets will euthanize them in the uterus before the anesthesia can wear off (after it's removed from mom, of course). Graphic I know.... just want to let you know it can be done humanely, and not judging you if you personally can't do that. The only way to prevent breeding in the meantime is to confine her. And purring is a response to many things, including pain and anxiety. I have seen cats with badly broken bones, sticking through the skin, purring like there is no tomorrow.

First of all, cats often purr when in pain, so that is why she was purring during birth. It's normal.

You need to get her desexed as soon as possible after the kittens are born, and then get rid of the kittens humanely. They need to be six weeks old before you can give them away, so kitty needs to be housebound for at least 6 weeks. No rendezvous with gentlemen kitties.

If one kitten is deformed, you should contact a vet. If it is severe, I would expect it would either die of it's own accord, or need putting down.

I have had many cats on a farm and I have never seen a deformed kitten. Ever. So I don't think it's a big worry.

Get kitty spayed. She will be much happier, and you won't have to worry about being grandma to kittens.

Sounds like you don't really have a question. You've made up your mind.
Next time get her spayed quicker.
[You can have a pregnant cat spayed, but I sense that this isn't an option for you. Some people seem to think this is fine for humans but not cats. Weird huh. Anyway I felt the same with my cat. And she ended up not having kittens; I think she was malnourished when I got her, so she wasn't able to carry the kittens to term.]
If a kitten is too deformed to live, it will die. If it is a minor deformity, it will be cute. But I've heard that some queen cats reject deformed kittens, even polydactyl kittens, so keep that milk replacement handy.

You're worrying about all the wrong things. You are locked into deformities. Get yourself unlocked. What happens to the kittens happens. We have no control over that.

So you don't have to put yourself through this again, you know what you have to do. It took only one escape to put you in never, never land.

Chances are your cat with have healthy, crazy crying baby's. So (if you haven't already) start setting up a birthing bed/box with enough room for mom and baby's to move around in. Put box in an out of the way, private place. Line the box with clean, soft blankets or towels. Then you can cover the blankets with news paper. When crazy crying baby's are cleaned and ready to nurse, just take the papers out and then the whole family will be comfy. Do get it put together, like now, so mom knows where she can go to have her baby's. She'll be more comfortable there, than on your chest, slipping and sliding around.

See! that was easy enough. Now all you have to do it quit worrying about if maybe, one of the baby's isn't perfect.

Daughter took female cat in, and of course the mom was prego. One of the baby's was born with both back feet totally turned around, facing the wrong direction. Have to admit, it looked a bit strange in a funny kind of way. However, vet said this was pretty normal. Kittens are born with cartilage, so baby's feet will turn back around where they should be, when they begin to deveop more.

Can't say anymore to you, but to tell you to relax!

Get her spayed as soon as possible after she has her crazy crying baby's or you'll be in for another surprise.

ok, first of all calm down! lol shes gunna be fine. My friend's cat had 7 litters and she first had kittends at 4 months wich means she got pregnant at 2 months. crazy huh? All her litters were fine! every since one! so dont worry about deformities. If she was purring while giving birth it prolly means she trusts you...A LOT. lol
My other friend's cat had kittens under the couch while they were waching a movie. They didnt even no until the first kitten mewed. If u r scared of having to deal with kittens dont be. She will pretty much take care of them herself but just get a box or basket for them to stay in. Be sure to potty train them. Oh ya and get ppl to take the kittens BEFORE they are born. My friends kittens are already 2 months old and only 1 has found a home. But just dont worry! It will be fine. Good Luck!

I had the same problem a bit ago as you're having now. Wanted to get her fixed, but oh no she escaped and now there are babies.
Mommy had 3 babies, but one was noticably the runt. The other babies pushed him out of the way whenever he wanted food, so what I did every now and then was after the others ate a lot, I pushed them out of the way and let the runt have all the boobie s/he wanted. Sadly runty only lived a few days :(

Just let mommy tend to him, if the others push him out of the way you could do the same thing I did and hope that it works better for ya.

I know how you feel about the abortion. Don't worry about what others think if YOU feel it isn't right. If there is a deformed kitten, get advise from your vet as to what to do about it. Hopefully that won't happen though. After the kittens are weened then you can get her fixed. Good Luck and I hope that all are well.

OK listen, I know you love your cat and this has nothing to do with that. If she's in labor there's nothing you can do but love her and let her do what she needs to do. If she is not yet in labor but you think she is pregnant, think about this: are you willing to take on the responsibility of all of her kittens? Because I'm telling you, if you're not, abort them. There are so many unwanted cats in the world it is not even funny, and call me crazy, but to my mind it is far worse to live a horrible, hard, unwanted life. Even if they are perfect. As for the purring--purring is not just a response to being loved. It is also a response to any number of stimuli, and I'm sure that giving birth is one of them. Think of it as cats' natural drugs. That is not to say that your cat looks forward to nursing another batch of kittens or anything like that--it's just your cat's way of coping with the crap hand that's been dealt to her. If you can't personally take care of all of those kittens that may be born, get an abortion and fast, and get her fixed. It seriously is the most humane, kindest alternative possible.

If one of the kittens happens to be deformed or otherwise unhealthy, let the mother tend to it first. If the mother rejects it, you can try to hand feed it or something but it will most likely die. :(
