The older cat is about 3 yrs and she hasn't drawn blood, but I am concerned that she will harm the kitties one day. She lunges at them or will bite at them. The kities don't seem to mind as they have no problem walking by her or even trying to play with her. The kitties also eat out of the older cat's bowl and she doesn't seem to try to stop them when they are doing so. How can I make sure that the older cat won't hurt the kitties? The kitties are about 7 weeks.

What are your feelings on declawing? I've had a cat declawed before, but now I'm not sure if it's necessary for my new kitten. But, she's a Siamese and her claws are always out. What are your thoughts and experiences? Thanks!

My husband has a dog. The dog loves him. I love cats. He got me a kitten over a week ago and I love her so much. I got her on a Friday afternoon so I spent all weekend with her trying to bond with her. We have 16 and 4 year old daughters. The 4 year old doesn't care too much about the kitty, but the older child never wanted a cat in the house. Now she wants to hold the kitten constantly. Even when I get home from work I never had the time the kids have with her. The kitty was following me around everywhere for that first weekend... now she would rather be with my older daughter and even my husband over me.

Does this sound ridiculous? I had a very loyal, loving persian cat that I lost before my husband and I got married and I was really looking forward to that companionship again. Should I be worried that the kitten doesn't look to me? I feed her and clean her litterbox, take her to the vet, etc. I'm glad she gets along with everyone, but I'd like her to be my kitty.

I am so tired of running in and out of there NOW to get them off...I'll be too wore out when the baby gets here! What can I do that won't harm the cats, baby or the furniture to keep them off!?!

Help me! Im only 21 and I think Im turning Grey because of this!

I recently aquired it from the shelter and i think its because my a/c is too cold. The last couple of days i turned off my a/c and i noticed some improvments in my cat. It didn't sneeze as much.

Hi, I have taken an abandoned kitten in and I think she is about five months old now, I was told that she can be spayed at six months and she won't be able to get pregnant untill she is nine months, I have been reading some of the answers regarding cats on yahoo answers and I am now beginning to think I have been given the wrong advice, someone please tell me when she can get pregnant!! I would ask the vet but I am in Sicily and they don't believe in sterilization even though they will do it so I am not getting the right answers from here! I need help before it is too late and I don't want anything bad to happen to Lily! Sue

I just adopted a 7 week old kitten, yesterday. I have had a cat before but never this young. She cried all day and all night yesterday. She has wet food, dry food and water.

When I hold her it stops but I I had to hold her all night. She literally will cry until I hold her.

Is this normal? Should I let her cry half the time and hold her the other half of the time. My boyfriend thinks I should let her cry and she will stop in a week. She literally will cry until I hold her.

Am I spoiling her if I let her sleep with me all night. She is also very tiny and I am afraid I will roll on her if she sleep with me all night.

Does anyone have any advice or suggestions?.

i have 3 cats, a large one (3+ yrs old, overweight-about 18+ lbs?) a regular sized one (>1 yr old, a bit pudgy-maybe 14lbs?) and a small one (>1 yr old, just right-maybe 9 or 10 lbs)

how can i get only the one (maybe two, to an extent) to loose weight without putting all of them on a diet?
now i usually just leave out dry food (purina, indoor cat formula) for them (all together they eat about 2 cups total, per day)

I just got a 7 week old kitten and started him on the regular cat chow. But after visiting a pet food store was persuaded into trying a Raw food diet simular the the BARF diet. He seems to like it but I am conserned about feeding my kitten raw meat! They told me at the pet store that grains were bad for cats because they weren't able to diggest them. I'm very confused can anyone shed some light?

I recently adopted a 4-year-old siamese female from a Shelter. I was told that she's very sweet and good with children. However, she hisses and growls at my child, and sometimes growls when I pet her. Do you have any suggestions on how to handle her, so she feels more at ease?

Please, if any of you know about it, tell me. I'm afraid of having my cat treated with conventional medications for hyperthyroidism, she's 13 and never been sick before. I wonder if acupunture works, or homeopathy in cases like this. Please, share your experiences if any.
My cat has an appointment tomorrow with a regular vet, and I feel aprehensive, he'll give her traditional medications. Thanks for help

I'm moving at the end of August. A few years ago I started feeding the stray cats. There are two, a yellow tabby (male)and a blackwcat(female) They both meow when they see the can of food.

About a month ago the black cat came with three kittens. In the end I know that the two adults can survive, they've been doing that all their life and the kittens are learning, but there's one, the one that looks like their mother. One day I left the door open while I went to get their food and he came in my house. He was always the one that had the most trust with me. Now he came in again today and he let me pick him up.I was thinking of taking him to the Toronto Humane Society, but he only trusts me. I want to know what they'll do with him, if he can't be adopted? I can't leave him, I fell like I'd be leaving my own cat in the streets? I also can't take him there knowing there's a chance they might kill him? I want to take him with me ...I cry when I'm alone, I think of him as my own...

He's about 20lbs.He's our only cat & his bowl always has food. We've been feeding him purina indoor formula. We'd like to upgrade to a food that's reasonably priced & easier for him to digest.I saw someone mention friskies dental care has bigger morsels,But wouldn't the ingredients be the same? Any insight you may have would be beneficial. Thanks John

my next door neighbor killed her sick cat by giving it aspirin or benadryl through a syringe. she hates me so she grabbed mine up when it was in her yard and we found it later so sleepy and horrible sick. he died later that night. i am so sad. how could i prosecute them? we have five children and they are such awful people when we had a small ceremony out in front...(to the side by the garden actually) they found funeral music and played it while they clapped. we've thrown a couple of cheap shots in from time to time..but i think this went way too far. an animal died here. it's just so sad.

okay i dont know for sure if my cat has ringworm because i havent taken her to the vet yet but i described her symptoms on here and people said it sounded like ringworm...and i was just wondering how a cat can get ringworm other than from humans...cuz a couple of days ago a squirrel was eating from our bird feeder and my mom opened our sliding door and my cat got out and chased the squirrel up the tree. soo high that you couldnt see her or the squirrel and i dont know if maybe she got bitten or scratched by that squirrel and it had ringworm and gave it to her...if squirrels can even have ringworm... i was just wondering how cats get ringworm in the first place and if the whole squirrel, tree, cat, scratch, bite, ringworm thing is possible...

We have this lady on our block that won't get her cats spayed. All three cats have a litter of kittens every time they go into heat. None of the kittens ever see a vet (their eyes are always crusty and noses are drippy) and even worse, sometimes we find them in the middle of street after they have been hit by a car. Our local animal control won't pick up cats because they are "free roaming animals" (seriously that is what the animal control officer said). What can we do as neighbors to get this lady to start taking care of her cats?

If a cat has been separated from its mother for several years since it was given a new home at the age of 6-8 months old, will the mother and its now grown offspring recognize each other if they are reunited, or will they not recognize each other at all? Is a kitten (that is separated from the mother) too young to form a memory of its mother?

I've always wondered about this.
