My new kitten got stuck in a sticky type mouse trap. We freed her with peanut butter & baby oil. I shampooed her with a kitty shampoo but a day later her fur is still very oily. I thought of trying baby powder but am not sure how dangerous that would be if she were to lick it. I am planning on calling the vet tomorrow but thought maybe I could get some help here????

Has anyone ever had any problems with Purscriptions Plus Squeeze on Flea & Tick drops by Sentry? I put it on my cat and he broke out in a bad rash on the back of his neck, I had to bath him, and you know how cats hate water. Frontline seemed to work before but it is too expensive. Anyone know of other brands that work well that will not make him break out, and where can I get them?

My female adult cat and her 2 14 week old kittens got out last night for about 20 min. When I rounded them back in the adult cat was growling and hissing at her two kittens. Two hours before she was still allowing them to nurse off of her. She even went after one to attack them. The kittes were shaking and are terrifed. The mamma is fine with me still but the kittens she wants to kill. I cant even put them in the same room. What caused this strange behavior, and how should I handle it?

I recently adopted a rescue cat, he's neutered, vaccinated, de flead and gorgeous! He has settled well and is very friendly.
I have recently started to let him go outside but he only returns after 14 hrs usual. He doesn't seem that hungry too after such a
long time out. Is this normal cat behaviour as I have never owned a cat before. Is it possible he's going elsewhere for his food? or filling up on mice. I am thinking of keeping him indoors just so we can see him once in a while! because he takes so long to come back any advice?

Hi, I am not from US, and in my country there are no shelters for cats, so stray cats are in the streets, people feed them, but of course disease and accidents often kill them young. Some of them manage to have long lives too, though, because in every neighbourhood there are people who take them to the vet, neuter them, etc.
I realised that in the US these cats are taken in shelters and put in cages, and if they are not adopted they are killed! I think this is horrible and animal lovers should not accept it. Sure I am not in favour of cats living in streets, but it's life, they never asked to be killed! I mean considering that shelters are supposed to be helping them! In addition, my main argument is that shelters hide the problem of unwanted kittens from the eyes of the general public (since thousands of homeless cats are not wandering around) and contribute to irresponsible owners, who breed their cats.If there were 10 kittens in their yard, maybe they'd decide against creating more

I know he was taken from his mother too soon, I think 5 weeks old and he was the runt and i just don't think she got to him or something yet. I got him when he was 7 weeks old and he'll use the litter box occasionally. I've tried a few methods. I keep him in the bathroom for a few hours at night with some toys, his food and water, and his litter box and of course he'll use it then. But when he's out running around he seems to forget about his litter box or something and pees and poops anywhere he wants. I even about every hour or so bring him to his litter box to see if he has to go. Seldom does he when I do that though. Any other suggestions? And yes his litter box is always clean, I clean it everyday.

Whenever I Touch my cats stomach (4 months old) she nibbles on my hand. It doesn't really hurt, but I don't really think that cats are ticklish. And by the way, if you say that mine is, whenever I tickle her neck, she just purrrs.

I just got a 3 month old Bull Terrier mix today and I have been trying to introduce him to my 3 year old cat. The cat seems to stand his ground and growl at the puppy when he comes near which is understandbale because the puppy wants to jump at and play with the cat. He has also barked at him a few times and I immediately told him no each time. If the cat tries to run, the dog instinctively wants to chase him. Any suggestions on how I can get the puppy to just ignore the cat? Is there a chance that they will ever be friends?

Oh what a time I have had with a newborn kitten. Poor little thing. He was born with a malformed leg. The bottom portion never formed, and the was dangling at birth. The mama chewed the bottom portion off. We have not expected it to pull through, but its a real little trooper. The mama is caring for it, it is nursing well, and otherwise seems ok. It is 8 days old now. Our vet said not to bring it in, there wasnt much to do for a newborn kitten, but to clean the wound, and put neosporin on it. The wound is looking alot better, but today I noticed there is maggots in the wound!! I cleaned it w/ peroxide this time, irrigated it w/ saline and put more neosporin on it but its not possible to get the maggots out of the wound. I cant get ahold of the vet till monday morning. Does anyone with experience know what to do to kill the maggots? I do know that to a certain degree, they are actually beneficial, but they can also start infesting into the animal and kill it.

But, If he gets in the bed, is there a chance of crushing the poor little thing if I turn over?
He's a tiny all-black cat (with no tail.NOT MY FAULT) and he loves to see what I am doing.
Is it safe to let him sleep on the bed?

I woke up this morning..
To find my 4 month old male kitten, with a swolen paw.
It's at least triple the size it normally is.
He's licks it occasionally, but nothing else..
It doesn't appear to be broken, he limps around on it...

I have no clue what to do...
Help!

For the past few days my 6month old kitten has been very calm, sleeps most of the time and eats very little.... I checked her rectal temp and it is 103.8. So she is running a slight fever. She has NO other symptoms... poops regularly, pees regularly... eats a little bit... She's an indoor cat... I can't think of anything that could've triggered this. She has had all her vaccines and shots. Any thoughts? What could this be? I'll measure her temp tomorrow AM, if she's still running a fever i'll take her to a vet.

The vet prescribed " METHYMAZOLE" for the thyroid, and this medication can make the kidney function worse. Please, if you have gone through this experience, share your thoughts. I'm very nervous about giving this drug to my dear cat .
