I know he was taken from his mother too soon, I think 5 weeks old and he was the runt and i just don't think she got to him or something yet. I got him when he was 7 weeks old and he'll use the litter box occasionally. I've tried a few methods. I keep him in the bathroom for a few hours at night with some toys, his food and water, and his litter box and of course he'll use it then. But when he's out running around he seems to forget about his litter box or something and pees and poops anywhere he wants. I even about every hour or so bring him to his litter box to see if he has to go. Seldom does he when I do that though. Any other suggestions? And yes his litter box is always clean, I clean it everyday.

I do have two more cats, but they all use their own litter boxes including him. I don't like to leave him in the bathroom too long because he's young and needs to be able to run around.

Whenever you see him doing it outside, pick him up and put him in the box. Or pick up the poo and put it in the box in front of him, and help him cover it up with his paw. And be patient, he's a baby!

Since you already have him using the box successfully by leaving him in the bathroom, you can work from there. Kittens need extra helping learning where everything is and how to use it.

The small bathroom helps him remember where the litter box is when he needs it. If you think it's too small for him, find a larger room like the kitchen and see if he can remember to use the box when he's confined there.

Keep expanding the area each time he is successful.

If you think the bathroom is too small, expand it by giving him more space above. If you have some cardboard boxes or sturdy furniture he can climb up on that provides more space.

Place a pingpong ball in the bathtub for him to bat around.

You can enrich his environment without giving him full run of the house. In the meantime, you need to use an enzymatic cleaner to get rid of cat smells.

Good luck!

Do you have more than one cat? If you have more than one cat and one litter box, some cats wont use the litter box because they have attitudes and dont like to share there poop or smells with other cats. Strange huh? Another thing you can do is put another litter box around the area that the cat poops and pees. I am pretty sure that the cat poops and pees in generally the same area. Keep another litter box there. If the cat still does not use the litter box...well then there are smart cats and inbred cats, if you know what I mean! If these methods dont work then discipline the cat a little, but not a lot! Keep him in the litterboxed room for longer periods of time.

properly we rescued our cat and he or she does an identical element. We have been on trip and we observed a newborn kitten, she replaced into sufficiently previous to stroll around in spite of the shown fact that. We asked around if all of us knew whos it replaced into and after a on an identical time as no person knew whos it replaced into...we couldnt discover the mother the two. We took her homestead and he or she has replace right into an excellent cat who loves human beings and isnt mean whatsoever. the only concern we've along with her is that the doesnt burry her poop yet she makes use of the muddle field basically fantastic. We found out that the mother will teach the kitten to burry the poop so considering the fact that she didnt have a mom for a on an identical time as she in no way found out. It isnt a huge situation so which you dont particularly could desire to do something.

Like children animals develop at different paces. You need to be patient. Your kitten is still young and he will learn, as you say he uses it when confined, but playing is a different matter he will forget. He will in time learn so don't worry too much.
